Central Park: that place that transports you to nature in the middle of Manhattan, NYC

Hello my dear Pinmapple friends! It's a pleasure to be here for another day, to share with you another of my favorite places, the famous Central Park.

This artificial space in the middle of one of the largest metropolis in the world, has somehow, the ability to purify, oxygenate and move you to nature, although a few blocks around the streets of that immense and incredible city full of skyscrapers begin to open way.

Central Park was the only place I went twice, simply because once was not enough to get to know it and because it had this beautiful power over me, to get closer to the trees, the sky, the water and somehow, to the stillness.

Yes, in the green icon of Manhattan, although there are many, many people, it is possible to find calm, because it is a huge space, which offers the possibility of sports such as running or cycling, and also has some bodies of water, where people can even go boating.

In this opportunity you can observe different features and key points of Central Park, such as the fountain that is at the exit of the Bethesda Terrace, a beautiful construction with a tile roof that shines incessantly and invites you to walk there.

People are engrossed in watching, as the arches delicately show the light, while somehow the height of the construction reflects those who begin to walk there. As you walk along, you can see a beautiful fountain, with different beautiful hydrophilic flowers.

That first day in Central Park, not only was I fascinated by that terrace, but there were many things I had never seen before that blew me away in the best sense of the word.

One of those things were the squirrels. People say they are like a plague, but to me, who was in front of one for the first time, they seemed cute and cuddly. Central Park is full of squirrels, and by the time I visited, these little guys were looking for the nuts falling from the trees. It was beautiful to watch them run around and then stop to gnaw on their food. I don't know if this happens all year round, but I was there in September-October and it was a spectacle.

Another thing I loved was hearing so much music in this place. Let's see... the park is huge and the spaces of silence predominate, but suddenly, you were walking along a path, and you could hear a rhythm in the distance that made you follow it until you reached the origin, and then you would discover a band or a musician who was there, sharing his art with citizens and tourists.

Central Park is also a space with emblematic points, one of them is the memorial to John Lennon, in an area of the park called Strawberry Fields.

In addition, there is a statue in honor of Balto, a dog that saved a village in Alaska that had been victim of a diphtheria epidemic, and because of the difficulty to travel the roads, people were at risk of dying. Balto was the leader dog of a sled that was carrying the cure to this disease, but the storm was so strong that whoever was driving the sled could not even see, so Balto was the one who took the lead, following a path almost without a trace. The story is very nice and you can read it here ladiaria.com, a source I used to refresh my memory about that event.

That first walk in Central Park was beautiful, I got to know, as I was telling you, a part of the park, and that first day it was a little warm, it was nice. The second time I went, it was freezing cold. When you see the pictures you can see the difference in my clothes, hehe. They look like two different trips, or one very long one, but they are not. It is a difference of about 8 days. In New York, the weather changed radically from one moment to the other, going from a pleasant temperature, to a quite intense cold (I can't imagine what winter will be like there, hehe).

I hope you liked this ride friends! I send you a hug!

It's amazing how artists are playing their instruments in the park for a buck or two and some dudes kicking the ball on a football field are making millions a year. Give them circus and bread and they shall not revolt... I see a lot of meaning in that.

Mmm… yes… I agree, there is a lot of talent there that somehow haven’t been seen… I don’t understand this very well either.

I just went through an amazing post, gosh, when I read your post and saw some pictures of Central Park I was instantly reminded of a pretty old movie(comedy) that I've seen at least 40 times each part, Home Alone.
Have you seen Home Alone?
I have a dream, which I hope to come true one day, and that is to visit New York and especially Central Park and the places where this film was shot.
