What did you do over the weekend? We chose to go out of the bustling city to enjoy the tranquil beauty of nature by camping overnight on a mountain top.

Location

The camping site is at the top of Hai Van pass. It is about 25km from Da Nang city center and about 30 minutes drive and 30 minutes hiking up the hill. This area is covered with greenery and surrounding majestic scenery. From here, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Da Nang city or the poetic beauty of Lang Co beach, Hue province. It was very hot at the foot of the mountain, however as soon as we got here we felt the difference. It was really cool and even very cold at night with clouds flying right on your head.

Activities

As soon as we arrived at the mountain-top campsite, we were instantly fascinated with the beauty of the nature that made us quickly forget the exhausting 30-minute mountain hike earlier. The first thing we did was put the tent and things on the ground and walk around to take pictures. After that we set up the tent and prepared dinner. The campsite is located near the forest, so it was so easy to collect firewood for a campfire.

At night, the cold air made us have a more delicious dinner by the warm fire. After dinner we cleaned up everything and continued to gather around the fire to heat, grill some sweet potatoes, dried squid, drink some beer, chat and chill with soothing music. We come from different countries and have different jobs so we had a lot to share with each other. Several stars appeared in the sky and we learned about the constellation from a member of the team, who is a member of the Astronomy Club. It quickly got colder at night, so we had to go to bed to get up early for the sunrise.

From the campsite, I hiked up about 300 meters to reach the highest point where a radar station is placed. It is the best place to watch the sunrise. After that, we had breakfast, drank coffee, cleaned the campsite and headed home. I was really satisfied with the wonderful trip.
