My entry to the Pinmapple If I had $1000 Contest: My desired trip to India | Mi viaje deseado a la India

Dear friends, in response to the seductive invitation of the community #Haveyoubeenhere and @pinmapple to celebrate the publication 1000 of #traveldigest, I am preparing to share with you one of my most cherished travel wishes, India.

From a very young age I came into contact with the culture of India. First as a reader (in Spanish) of the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore, then of the stories of Hermann Hesse, then I dared to read ancient texts, such as parts of the Uphanisads and the Bhagavad Gîtâ, and, of the most recent, the Mexican writer, Nobel Prize for Literature, Octavio Paz in his Glimpses
of India
, among other readings.

Parallel to this, my encounter with Indian food and medicine ayurveda, as I began to be a vegetarian and naturist, as well as my discovery and constancy in yoga. Of course, I couldn't miss listening to music from that place, like Rhavi Shankar, thanks to the Beatles.

So my inclination towards India, as well as China for Taoism and Zen Buddhism, goes back many years in my life, and a trip to those lands would be an unfulfilled wish. I doubt that $1,000 will be enough for much, but I am not giving up on that dream. Perhaps everything would be consumed in tickets, and I would access food and lodging in modest offers and places.

The first thing would be to visit some emblematic places of their religious traditions, be they Hindu, Buddhist or Islamic.

And, among many other things, the encounter with their people and their customs.

India will remain an almost utopian space for me. And I will always be following it in my dreams.

Greetings, friends.

Saludos, amigos.

Wonderful to hear of your appreciation for India and it's spiritual culture. I share the exact same appreciation as you do, having spent some months living in yoga ashrams in India in my youth. Bhagavad Gita is my bible. There is nothing superior to the Vedas, the Sanskrit texts, from which even Buddhism originates, from what I have understood so far.
