Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'An, China (6 pics)
Established during the Tang Dynasty, Xi'An Small Wild Goose Pagoda was erected in 2 years, between 707 and 709.
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda or Little Wild Goose Pagoda is not that small.
The Pagoda is 43 meters tall, but it was originally even taller.
When it was inaugurated, it was 45 meters high (147 feet), but an earthquake in 1556 damaged it considerably; so it lost 2 floors and 2 meters in height during the event.
Since the thirteen tiered pagoda is made of brick and has a hollow interior, it is surprising that it was not damaged more seriously during that event.
The pagoda is located in a beautiful park decorated with some wooden sculptures.
A pleasant walk between ponds and historic pavilions is waiting for you if you decide to go see it by yourself.
Do not forget to take a look in the air to admire the detail of the support beams of the various walkways.
There you can see a replica of an iron bell with over 800 years of history which is now part of Jianu Temple.
The original bell is in the bell pavilion nearby in the park.
This bell was originally in another temple before being lost for years and then found during the Qing Dynasty and then brought to Jianu temple.
This allows visitors to experience the force it takes to ring the bell so that the sound is heard in the distance.
Always cool to be able to experience things.
