A magnificent Great Crimson Salon at the Wilanow Palace / Salon Wielki Karmazynowy w Pałacu w Wilanowie

The Great Crimson Salon is a room in the Wilanow Palace that I liked the most. It has been adorned with many exquisite paintings and at the same time, many other elements of this room make it look special. I was delighted with the huge gilded shells by the ceiling, the statues of half-naked, handsome young men who looked as if they were supporting the ceiling, and the wonderful paintings on the ceiling.

Below you can see a large, 4-meter painting showing Michal Kazimierz Radziwiłł's entry to Rome in 1680. He was an envoy of King Jan III. This image, besides being huge, is also very detailed and looks almost like a photo. You can see a fragment of Rome, a crowd of people, a lot of horses, and you can spot various exotic animals there, including camels or a monkey.

Poniżej możecie zobaczyć ogromny, 4-metrowy obraz na którym widać wjazd Michała Kazimierza Radziwiłła do do Rzymu w 1680 roku. Był on posłem króla Jana III.

The Great Crimson Salon features Italian, French, Flemish, and German paintings. The walls were given the color of Pompeian pink, often used in nineteenth-century museum interiors because they were a perfect background for the exhibited paintings. Among them we can find, among others works by Lucas Cranach, Jan Lievens, Eustache le Seur, and Angelika Kauffmann.

W Salonie Wielkim Karmazynowym znajdują się dzieła malasrtwa włoskiego, francuskiego, flamandzkiego, i niemieckiego. Ściany otrzymały kolor różu pompejańskiego, chętnie stosowanego w XiX wiecznych wnętrzach muzealnych ponieważ stanowiły doskonałe tło dla eksponowanych obrazów. Wśród nich znajdziemy m.in. dzieła Lucasa Cranacha, Jana Lievensa, Eustache le Seura, czy Angeliki Kauffmann.

In the room, there are also small porcelain figurines and ceramics in a wooden case. On the website of the palace, in the children's section, there is such a task related to this display case, but I think it stimulates the imagination nicely and is also suitable for adults:

Take a look at the dishes in the display cases. Look at their shapes, sizes, ornaments. Maybe thanks to them you can imagine an old Polish feast?

I liked the following paintings by the Dutch painter Jan Lievens, who was a student of Rembrandt. The first is entitled "A man lighting a torch" and the second: "A young man with a pipe blowing on the embers." The first image probably refers to the allegory of fire, while the second one refers to the custom of smoking a pipe, popular at the time.

Pierwszy obraz nawiązuje prawdopodobnie do alegorii ognia, a drugi do popularnego w tamtych czasach zwyczaju palenia fajki.

In this painting, I liked the depiction of a young man drinking wine, straight from the bottle, and a decoration on the head of a man painted on the left, with bunches of grapes on his hair.
