Meet Dyzio, or Dilophosaurus. He is a predatory dinosaur that lived on Earth about two hundred million years ago. His reconstruction was made over 20 years ago. Apart from the mammoth, Dyzio is one of the most interesting animal exhibits in the museum. It's nice that you can see him together with fur and he looks "alive". This gives a completely different impression than the skeleton of an animal living in the Ice Age itself. And that open mouth of a dinosaur. I saw some people taking a picture in it to make it look as if a dinosaur was eating them ;)

Poznajcie Dyzia, czyli dilofozaura, to drapieżny dinozaur, który żył na Ziemi około dwustu milionów lat temu. Jego rekonstrukcja powstała ponad 20 lat temu. Dyzio jest oprócz mamuta jednym z najciekawszych eksponatów zwierzęcych w muzeum. Fajnie, że można go zobaczyć razem z futrem i wygląda "jak żywy". To daje zupełnie inne wrażenie niż sam szkielet zwierzęcia żyjącego w epoce lodowcowej. I jeszcze ten otwarty pysk dinozaura. Widziałam, że niektórzy robią sobie w nim zdjęcie, żeby wyglądało tak jakby dinozaur ich zjadał ;)

"Mom, look at this and this! " - this is how a girl admired the exhibits from the museum. She approached colored stones or animal remains and excitedly invited adults to share this experience together. She was pointing to the exhibits and there was a great deal of curiosity and joy on her face. Some people associate museums with something boring, and it doesn't have to be that way. Sometimes it is worth looking at the world through the eyes of a child who explores the unknown, geological world with great attention and curiosity.

"Mamooo, patrzcie na tooo i na tooo!" - tak zachwycała się eksponatami z muzeum pewna dziewczynka. Podchodziła do kolorowych kamieni, czy szczątków zwierząt i z ekscytacją zapraszała dorosłych do wspólnego dzielenia się tym doświadczeniem. Wskazywała na eksponaty i na jej twarzy malowała się ogromna ciekawość i radość. Niektórym ludziom muzea kojarzą się z czymś nudnym, a tak nie musi być. Warto czasami spojrzeć na świat oczami dziecka, które z ogromną uwagą i ciekawością poznaje nieznany, geologiczny świat.

There was a showcase with the remains of our ancestors near the dinosaur. You can see the skulls of people who lived long ago. Observe how human skulls have gradually changed, read where we are supposed to come from.

Niedaleko dinozaura znajdowała się gablota ze szczątkami naszych przodków. Można tu zobaczyć czaszki żyjących dawno temu ludzi. Poobserwować jak się stopniowo zmieniały ludzkie czaszki, poczytać skąd podobno pochodzimy.

I like this skull, the so-called nutcracker - Paranthropus boisei.

A representative of the massive Australopithecus. Age: 2.3 - about 1.2 million. years ago. Brain capacity: 520 cm3. Height: men - 137 cm, and women: 124 cm. Extensive face piece with very massive jaws and large teeth. Characteristic bone crest on top of the skull.

But these people were short!

Spodobała mi się ta czaszka, tzw. dziadka do orzechów - Paranthropus boisei.

Przedstawiciel australopiteków masywnych. Wiek: 2,3 - ok.1,2 mln. lat temu. Pojemność mózgu: 520 cm3. Wysokość: mężczyźni - 137cm, a kobiety: 124 cm. Rozbudowana część twarzowa z bardzo masywnymi szczękami i dużymi zębami. Charakterystyczny grzebień kostny na szczycie czaszki.

Ale Ci ludzie byli niscy!

To białe cudo z delikatnymi paskami to krzemień paskowaty.

Pasiastość wynika ze zmiennej ilości mikroporów, partie mają ich dużo, a ciemniejsze - mniej. Geneza polskich krzemieni pasiastych nie jest do końca wyjaśniona, sądzi się jednak, że powstały one w osadach dna morskiego w czasie sedymentacji lub tuż po niej, a źródłem krzemionki mogły być roztwory hydrotermalne.

The museum was also full of rocks, stones, and pieces of animals reflected in the stones. I will write more about them in a new post. Being there, at times, I felt as if I was walking on a strange planet. Amazing place.

W muzeum było też pełno skał, kamieni i fragmentów zwierząt odbitych w kamieniach. Napiszę wam o nich więcej w nowym poście. Będąc tam czułam się momentami, jakbym chodziła po obcej planecie. Niezwykłe miejsce.
