The Palace on the Isle in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw / Pałac na wyspie (Pałac na wodzie) w Łazienkach Królewskich w Warszawie

The palace on the island was built in the classical style and is situated on an artificial island surrounded by a pond. It looks impressive and its façade is beautifully reflected in the pond. My attention was also drawn to the sculptures in front of the palace - two lions and figures of gladiators, which are copies of ancient sculptures, the so-called Borghese gladiators.

Pałac na wyspie został zbudowany w stylu klasycystycznym i leży na sztucznej wyspie, którą otacza staw. Wygląda imponująco, a w stawie pięknie odbija się jego elewacja. Moją uwagę zwróciły też rzeźby znajdujące się przed pałacem - dwa lwy oraz figury gladiatorów, które są kopią antycznych rzeźb, tzw. Gladiatorów Borghese.

The palace was the king's summer residence from 1775. In the summer, from 1784, Thursday dinners organized by the ruler were held in the dining room, which used to be a bedroom. All major parties, especially dances and balls, were organized in the ballroom. The apartments of Stanisław August Poniatowski were located on the first floor of the building. The ruler had his office, library, wardrobe, and bedroom there. On the first floor, there is also a separate apartment for a librarian and a space for the monarch's personal guard.

Pałac był od 1775 letnią rezydencją króla. W lecie, od 1784 roku, w sali jadalnej, która dawnej pełniła funkcję sypialni, odbywały się organizowane przez władcę obiady czwartkowe. Wszelkie większe przyjęcia, zwłaszcza tańce i bale, organizowano w sali balowej. Na piętrze budynku znajdowały się apartamenty Stanisława Augusta Poniatowskiego. Władca miał tam swój gabinet, bibliotekę, garderobę i sypialnię. Na piętrze wydzielone zostało również mieszkanie dla bibliotekarza oraz przestrzeń dla osobistego strażnika monarchy.

Apparently, the interior of the palace looks beautiful, in addition to the classicist décor, there are 19th-century paintings by Jan Bogumił Plersch, and in the past, the palace was decorated with paintings by Marcello Bacciarelli. Unfortunately, they were damaged by a fire.

Podobno wnętrze pałacu wygląda przepięknie, oprócz klasycystycznego wystroju znajdują się tam XIX wieczne malowidła Jana Bogumiła Plerscha, a w przeszłości pałac zdobiły malowidła Marcello Bacciarellego. Niestety uległy zniszczenia na skutek pożaru.

The palace is connected to the mainland by two bridges that are ended with columns. Thanks to this, you can easily enter the palace grounds. You don't have to swim to it, for example.

Pałac łączą z lądem dwa mosty, które są zakończone kolumnami. Dzięki temu z ławością można wejść na teren pałacu. Nie trzeba do niego na przykład dopływać.

The southern elevation is more interesting in my opinion. There are more sculptures here, as well as a huge terrace that you can walk on. In the attic of the portico, there are four sandstone sculptures personifying the seasons. There you can also see four sandstone sculptures that depict the four elements. All sculptures were created by Andrzej Le Brun. One of them: the element of fire, was destroyed during the war with a German missile and was later rebuilt. On the side attics, there are sculptures personifying four continents.

Elewacja południowa jest moim zdaniem ciekawsza. Znaduje się tu więcej rzeźb, a także ogromny taras, po którym można spacerować. Na attyce portyku znajdują się cztery piaskowcowe rzeźby, które są personifikacjami pór roku. Można tam też zobaczyć cztery piaskowcowe rzeźby, które przedstawiają cztery żywioły. Wszystkie rzeźby zostały stworzone przez Andrzeja Le Bruna. Jedna z nich: żywioł ognia, została zniszczona w trakcie wojny niemieckim pociskiem a później ją odbudowano. Na bocznych attykach znajdują się rzeźby będące personifikacjami czterech kontynentów.

When I was walking around the palace, the film crew shot some footage there. I saw some of the film equipment spread out on the terrace of the palace, and some shots were shot from the water.

Gdy spacerowałam z okolicach pałacu ekipa filmowa kręciła tam jakiś materiał filmowy. Widziałam część sprzętu filmowego rozłożonego na tarasie pałacu, a częściowo jakieś ujęcia kręcone były z wody.

A palace on an island or the other name - a palace on the water. Such surroundings of the palace make it look as if it was floating on the water or standing on the water. Especially from a distance, you get this impression.

Pałac na wyspie albo druga nazwa - pałac na wodzie. Takie otoczenie pałacu sprawia, że wygląda on jakby płynął po wodzie, albo stał na wodzie. Szczególnie z daleka, można odnieść takie wrażenie.
