I was born in Sydney , Australia and even though i am regarded as a Aussie really i am a full blood Italian my background is both my parents migrated from a small town call Guardia Sanframondi which is in Italy on a mountain top so i lone to visit this beautiful town where my parents were born before they migrated to Australia , so we organized a trip there with some of my cousins , uncles and aunties we were all going at the same time this was going to be a big reunion to see all my cousins , uncles , aunties and the Godfathers in Italy.

Guardia Sanframondi in Italy is a province of Benevento with only a population just less then 6,000 people even today , the town is known for the best wine marking just about everyone in this town own vineyards and produce there own wines including my cousin who is know to produce some of the best red and white wines in town. He has all the fancy modern equipment to do so and distributes all around Italy.

it_5.jpg

Fresh grapes from the vineyards ready for juicing to make wine.

it_10.jpg

it_13.jpg

What i love about Guardia Sanframondi was the characteristics of looking still like a 12th century medieval town.

it_14.jpg

it_15.jpg

it_16.jpg

it_17.jpg

it_18.jpg

The town still looked still very well intact but why this was during WWII the town was destroyed by US army after the world the town was steadily built again around the still remaining house walls and town walls to retain it's originality is why the town still has it's fine medieval characteristics.

I couldn't keep the uncles , cousins or aunties out of the photos you know Italians they love having there photos taken and why not it's all great memories to look back on 😅

it_26.jpg

I love these little Fiat Bambinos cars so neat they would hammer with a V8 fitted to them.

it_27.jpg

it_40.jpg

it_29.jpg

it_84.jpg

As you know when Italian families get together they are in huge numbers as you can see , i was overwhelmed how many cousins , aunties and uncles , i had this was awesome and they know how to eat and drink wine. This was late afternoon lunch after we got back from walking around town.

it_30.jpg

it_34.jpg

it_32.jpg

it_35.jpg

And then there is dinner with all the traditional Italian fire oven pizzas and more wines and these are all home made products made by the uncles and aunties that you can't get anywhere else was just all mouthwatering never had i tasted so much real Italian foods in one place.

it_39.jpg

After tasting the best of foods and wine it was time to pack it up and leave these beautiful people and this awesome friendly town and head for Rome of course my aunties and uncles wanted to fill my suitcases with Salami , Prosciutto , Cheeses , Wine and what ever else they could fit into my suitcase but unfortunately it wasn't going to happen not with Australia immigration laws would have loved to bring some back though. Certainly no shortage of foods in Italy and the best.

it_42.jpg

it_44.jpg

Even the birds have a feast 😅

it_47.jpg

We were all packed ready to go minus all the products except for one bottle of red wine some salami , prosciutto , olives and some bread for the road trip to Rome which was just over 200 kms about and less then a 3 hour drive on the auto express highway.

it_50.jpg

it_51.jpg

it_53.jpg

it_56.jpg

it_57.jpg

Rome city was just how i had imagined it to be as i had seen on the movie the Italian Job busy , hot , romantic and lots of great history to look at of course you don't go without seeing the St Peter's Cathedral and the Colosseum just one word Masterpieces.

it_58.jpg

it_59.jpg

it_60.jpg

it_62.jpg

We then took a tour on them hop on hop of buses with the open roof a it was a great way to see the city of Rome was just a spectacular tour and it was a beautiful day to have done it and they drop you off at the best outdoor fire place pizza restaurant yes more pizzas but i can say these Italian real Italian pizzas are to die for 🤭

it_66.jpg

it_67.jpg

it_68.jpg

This was funny to see i think this guy dreamed about having his own Colosseum so he built a portion of it 😅

it_69.jpg

Yep..another pizza with a cold beer was just delightful.

it_70.jpg

This was the streets of Rome after mid-night still pumping.

it_74.jpg

This was the Godfathers of Rome getting together on a social night to discuss there next move i wouldn't doubt that 😅

it_79.jpg

And this was my adventurous holiday in Italy hope you enjoy the tour as much as i did and i did come home full as a boot with a few extra kilos but all worth it 😅

Aww, Guardia Sanframondi is such a picturesque little town. You can literally feel the historic vibe from the photos. And the tradition of wine making also seems to be very old here. Beautiful shots :)

When I think of Italy, these photos are what often comes on in my mind... Small picturesque towns, vineyards as far as the eye can see, wine, cheese, meat, stunning landscape, lovely architecture, and most importantly, family. Cheers, or should I say, grazie mille for the sharing the awesome story ❤️

Cheers! Whenever I have the amazing opportunity to visit Italy, I want to make sure I add Guardia Sanframondi to the list of places to stop by. That, and pretty much everywhere else. Seriously, is there ever a bad or ugly place in Italy? 😅

Oh yes, please! The only time I've ever had authentic Italian food here in Malaysia was at a restaurant that's now closed. It was run by Italian migrants, and it was there that I had the best foods ever put in my mouth! I was underage then, so I don't think I drank any of the wine. But its a shame they're not there anymore, and I miss them since 💔

Really are Italian restaurants scarce over there my wife and myself should come over and open one up and then you can drink our home made red wine also ..lol 🙂

I'd so love that! Italian cuisine does have a wide cultural impact, but unfortunately not necessarily enough to spawn properly good and authentic food. Italian restaurants here are just as rare, as trying to find a Malaysian restaurant over in Italy 😅. It's sadly true.

That is unfortunate they don't know what they are missing out on surly rice everyday must get pretty boring..lol 😅

Well, rice is pretty tasty if its cooked the right way 😁. If you look around, you can definitely find pretty great restaurants, without a doubt. Fusion cooking that mixes Eastern and Western cuisines are rather popular around here. But it's certainly a bit tough to find properly authentic foods from the West, like Italian, French, or even American!

I do love my rice in many ways with Asia foods but it's nice to be able to have a nice bbq steak or juicy hamburger now and then..yeah 🙂

Lol, don't worry, there's plenty of great foods and varieties here. You just have to find the right location, and one will definitely have the chance to sample great dishes from around the world. I even had mushroom risotto once, and I guess that's sort of rice, right? 😆

I believe so many Asian countries always have hidden gems around like you said you just need to find them 👍

It's certainly not something one could easily find here. That authentic Italian restaurant I talked about was hidden quite well. I wouldn't have known about, if my dad hadn't had business lunches there 😁

Yeah you learn and know from people what is around you can't rely on google map because it tends to lie to you 😅

Lol, true! I relied on Google Maps far too much to see reviews of a particular place, and it's not always fun. Though it does make finding places easier 😁

Yep Google does have it's advantages and dis-advantages like us humans 😁

But what it can't do, is being able to taste the goodness of a proper, authentically Italian pizza... 😜

Are you sure your Malaysian you must have European background..lol 😅

Haha, I am indeed Malaysian, but my family line seems to inherit this western-ness in our DNA. It comes naturally... My dad is an Americophile (likeness for things American), while I follow my grandad in being an Anglophile/Europhile (likeness for things British/European). My local friends might call it weird, but I like it 😁
