Bioparque Temaiken - Un nuevo concepto en zoológicos - Bioparque Temaiken - A new concept in zoos

El Bioparque Temaiken es una especie de zoológico que revoluciona el concepto que se tenía hasta hace unos años en el país respecto a este tipo de parques. Temaiken no es un lugar donde los animales son exhibidos en sus jaulas, sino que cada especie tiene un gran espacio donde se construye el hábitat natural donde se encuentran cada una de las especies animales.

The Temaiken Biopark is a kind of zoo that revolutionizes the concept of this type of park in the country until a few years ago. Temaiken is not a place where the animals are exhibited in their cages, but each species has a large space where the natural habitat is built where each animal species is found.

Esta situado muy cerca de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires en la República Argentina; para ser más preciso en el partido de Escobar en la provincia de Buenos Aires.

Con mi esposa e hija estamos convencidos que los animales vinieron a este mundo para vivir en libertad y no detrás de unos barrotes de hierro, o para ser exhibidos en lugares cerrados, pero a pesar de ello quisimos conocer Temaiken por los buenos comentarios que habíamos escuchado de este Bioparque y también para que nuestra hija conociera animales que había observado únicamente a través de una pantalla de televisión y también para que conozca cual es la realidad de estos tipos de lugares, que en mi opinión suelen ser muy tristes.

With my wife and daughter we are convinced that the animals came to this world to live in freedom and not behind iron bars, or to be exhibited in enclosed places, but despite this we wanted to know Temaiken for the good comments we had heard from this Biopark and also for our daughter to meet animals that she had observed only through a television screen and also to know what is the reality of these types of places, which in my opinion are usually very sad

Temaiken no es unicamente un parque de exhibición de animales que se encuentran en cautiverio, sino que a través de su fundación (La Fundación Temaiken) colabora con la preservación de nuestras selvas y especies autóctonas, financiando estas actividades a través de lo recaudado con las entradas y demás donaciones y aportes que reciben. Tiene una importantísima tarea educativa ya que trabaja con las escuelas, dando charlas y cursos sobre la importancia que tiene para la vida del planeta la preservación de nuestros espacios naturales y la preservación de la fauna y la flora.

Temaiken is not only an exhibition park for animals that are in captivity, but through its foundation (The Temaiken Foundation) collaborates with the preservation of our forests and native species, financing these activities through the proceeds of the tickets and other donations and contributions they receive. It has a very important educational task since it works with schools, giving talks and courses on the importance for the life of the planet of the preservation of our natural areas and the preservation of fauna and flora.

Desde este lugar actúa como un gran motivados y ayuda a generar conciencia sobre la importancia de medio ambiente, ya desde pequeños y estos en muchas ocasiones suelen educar a sus padres, sobre diferentes acciones que se pueden tomar en el seno de una familia para colaborar con la preservación de la vida silvestre.

From this place it acts as a great motivator and helps to generate awareness about the importance of the environment, even from childhood and these often educate their parents about different actions that can be taken within a family to collaborate with the preservation of wildlife.

Recordemos que todos podemos ayudar a mantener al planeta vivo con pequeñas modificaciones en nuestras casas, como puede ser el reciclado de ciertos residuos, la utilización de bolsas reutilizables, la reducción en el consumo de energía y demás acciones que entre todos podemos implementar desde nuestras casas.

Remember that we can all help keep the planet alive with small modifications in our homes, such as recycling certain waste, using reusable bags, reducing energy consumption and other actions that together we can implement from our homes.

Gran parte de los animales del Bioparque son rescatados de operativos de contrabando de animales y otros animales los llevan de Zoológicos del interior del país que cierran sus puertas, donde por lo general tienen a los animales en pésimas condiciones.

Most of the animals in the Biopark are rescued from animal smuggling operations and other animals are taken from zoos in the interior of the country that close their doors, where the animals are usually kept in terrible conditions.

La fundación Temaiken tiene un activa función en la prevención del contrabando de animales y por lo general suelen intervenir en la recuperación de los animales, su cuidado y su posterior liberación en sus hábitat naturales a los ejemplares que pueden ser re insertados y sobrevivir por sus propios medios.

The Temaiken foundation has an active role in the prevention of animal smuggling and usually intervenes in the recovery of the animals, their care and subsequent release into their natural habitats to the specimens that can be re-inserted and survive by their own means.

En el recorrido por el parque se pueden observar una gran diversidad de animales,de los 5 continentes. Todos ellos se encuentran en perfecto estado de salud y están en un extenso espacio que simula su habitat y en los cuales ellos pueden desenvolverse con total comodidad.

In the tour through the park you can observe a great diversity of animals, from the 5 continents. All of them are in perfect health and are in an extensive space that simulates their habitat and in which they can develop with total comfort.

Los animales que mayormente nos han impactado son las suricatas, las cebras, el avestruz, el tigre de bengala blanco, la chita, y los murciélagos enormes que estaban en una gran jaula. El acuario también es un muy lindo lugar donde se pueden observar gran variedad de peces y de tiburones, lo cual es muy impactante.

The animals that have most impacted us are meerkats, zebras, ostriches, white bengal tigers, cheetahs, and huge bats that were in a large cage. The aquarium is also a very nice place where you can observe a great variety of fish and sharks, which is very impressive.

Una mención especial merece el sector e las aves donde se pueden observar más de 1000 especies de aves muchas que son realmente hermosas y extravagantes. Creo que esta parte del parque es la que se lleva los aplausos y la admiración de la mayor parte del público que asiste , no solo por la cantidad, sino también por la variedad de aves que se pueden observar en este maravilloso lugar.

A special mention deserves the bird sector where you can observe more than 1000 species of birds, many of which are really beautiful and extravagant. I believe that this part of the park is the one that takes the applause and the admiration of most of the public that attends, not only for the quantity, but also for the variety of birds that can be observed in this wonderful place.

Nunca estaré en favor de la exhibición de animales en cautiverio fuera de su hábitat natural pero creo que este Bioparque rompe con todos los estándares conocidos hasta el momento y ofrece algo diferente no solo al público, sino que también a los animales. También es admirable el gran trabajo que llevan a adelante con la fundación, en la generación de conciencia social y los aportes científicos que brindan para intentar mejorar el aprendizaje de las diferentes especies de flora y fauna.

I will never be in favor of exhibiting animals in captivity outside their natural habitat but I believe that this Biopark breaks all the standards known so far and offers something different not only to the public but also to the animals. It is also admirable the great work they are doing with the foundation, in generating social awareness and the scientific contributions they provide to try to improve the learning of the different species of flora and fauna.
