Living on a Boat but Still Need Water! - Tamworth UK

Hail to the Hive!

As we continue our little Narrowboat adventure across the UK one thing you have to adjust to quickly is that all the usual amenities (water, electric, heat, waste disposal etc) are not limitless. You need to plan and think ahead. You also need to be a little mindful of what you use, so no long long showers for example. Except for today. We both fancied really long hot showers today so we planned for it.

As we had already topped up the tank with water when at the marina in Streethay getting repairs, we decided to indulge a little knowing there was a water point at the Fazely Junction and we could just top up again fairly quickly.

So in the morning at the crack of errr 10am we set off.

The weather keeps see sawing at the moment from glorious spring to baltic winter. Today started a little chilly and cloudy but got brighter and nicer as the day went on.

And the Journey along this stretch of the Coventry Canal was really beautiful and peaceful.

But only a few kilometers away was the junction at Fazely and there was the water point.

Now these water points are only accessible with a key from the Canal and River Trust and as we pay a yearly license to be on the rivers and canals we have one and can top up at no extra charge. This is really useful and I've found that most water points are marked on the CRT maps.

If you've been reading my previous posts you'll know we were in Fradley a few days ago.

Onwards!

There's always a nice mix of industrial and natural on the canal. Always something interesting be it wildlife, farm animals, trees and landscapes or....

A backhoe on a barge.

The sun was starting to go down and it is that time to look for s suitable place to moor up and settle in for the night.

IMG-5670.jpg

This looks perfect. And for those that have asked as long as it doesn't specifically say you can't moor up then you can. Sometimes there are time limits a day, 2 or whatever. But other than that secure your boat, get the dinner on and the beers out!

Not too shabby eh?

Stay safe out there people, wherever you may be on this planet of ours
