European Wisent bison | Żubry z Bieszczad

A memory from a holiday trip a few years ago to the Polish Bieszczady Mountains, it will be about Wisent :)
The Bieszczady Mountains in Poland are mountains where you feel time passing slowly. It is a place full of wilderness, green horizons and breathtaking views. They are not as popular as Zakopane, which means there are definitely fewer tourists. Although I observe that it changes from year to year. The Bieszczady Mountains are no longer so wild and lonely.

Bieszczady w Polsce to góry, gdzie czujesz, jak czas wolno płynie. To miejsce pełne dziczy, zielonych horyzontów i widoków, które zapierają dech w piersiach. Nie są aż tak popularne jak Zakopane, przez co turystów jest zdecydowanie mniej. Chociaż obserwuję, że z roku na rok się to zmienia. Bieszczady nie są już aż tak bardzo dzikie i osamotnione.

Bisons, as we are talking about them today, are also called European bisons, are the pride of Polish nature, and their population in Poland is concentrated in the Bieszczady Mountains. These are impressive animals from the bovine family (according to Wikipedia), characterized by huge sizes and powerful horns. Bisons in the Bieszczady Mountains are one of the largest animal species living in the wild in Poland.

Żubry, bo o nich dzisiaj mowa, zwane są także europejskimi bizonami, stanowią dumę polskiej przyrody, a ich populacja w Polsce skoncentrowana jest w Bieszczadach. To imponujące zwierzęta z rodziny wołowatych (jak podaje wikipedia), charakteryzują się ogromnymi rozmiarami i potężnymi rogami. Żubry w Bieszczadach są jednym z największych gatunków zwierząt żyjących na wolności w Polsce.

Unfortunately, bisons are a rare species, which makes observing them a unique and unusual experience. I watched them from a distance and they are really big, huge. For many years, the bison population was at risk of extinction, but thanks to effective conservation programs, the numbers of these impressive animals have been increased.
According to these data the number is increasing, which is very nice 🙂

Niestety, żubry są gatunkiem rzadkim, co sprawia, że ich obserwacja stanowi wyjątkowe i niezwykłe doświadczenie. Obserwowałem je z daleka i są naprawdę wielkie, ogromne. Przez wiele lat populacja żubrów była narażona na wyginięcie, jednak dzięki skutecznym programom ochrony, udało się zwiększyć liczebność tych imponujących zwierząt.
Według tych danych liczebność się zwiększa, co bardzo cieszy 🙂

Bisons from the Bieszczady Mountains are herbivores, and their diet in nature is based mainly on herbaceous plants, grasses, twigs of trees, shrubs and their leaves. Although, as I noticed, they are also fed hay in this park.

Żubry z Bieszczad są roślinożercami, a ich dieta opiera się w naturze głównie na roślinach zielnych, trawach, gałązkach drzew, krzewów oraz ich liści. Chociaż jak zauważyłem, są też dokarmiane w tym parku sianem.
