Travel Pro Natural Wonders #14: Sunsets on the Island of Koh Phangan Thailand! Part Five (8 photos)

Sunrise? or Sunset? Why not both? These are often the questions I find myself pondering each day here on the beautiful Island of Koh Phagnan. After a longer than anticipated stay in the northern city of Chiang Mai I now find myself back on one of my favorite islands in the whole world, Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand.

As the fifth largest island in Thailand it's only 125 kl square. To me, it's the perfect size, and this time I got myself a very nice apartment close to the center of the island. This way I can get to all corners of the island in less than twenty minutes by motorbike. So I ask myself quite often, sunrise or sunset?

If you are lucky enough to live on the coast in my country, the United States, generally you're options are one or the other. East coast you get the sunrise and west coast like out in California you get the sunset. But here on my amazing little island I get both! Lucky me!

I've never been more motivated to get up early in my life and I've been catching a lot of sunrises but this series is going to highlight the sunsets. I often find myself catching both, and it's a peaceful and relaxing part of the day. The rhythm of the sun has truly become part of my life here in Koh Phangan, I feel healthier, I get up earlier, I go to bed earlier, and I sleep like a baby each night.

When you come to the Thai Islands you will notice a lot people arranging their day around these two events. It's free and it's often spectacular! People often ask " Hey, what are you doing for sunset? You want to meet up?" Welcome to the island life here in Koh Phagnan.

There are over forty beaches on the island. Basically you're surrounded by some the best beaches in the world. They are all wonderful and each one has it's own characteristics. The west/sunset coast has technically about 18 beaches and probably a dozen or more view points that are all incredible spots to catch the sunset.

The sun paints the sky differently each evening, no two are the same; then you can choose a different spot to watch the sunset each day for a month. So this island really is a sunset chaser's dream. I've really been enjoying the incredible display the sun gives us on this small island and it's my pleasure to share these amazing sunsets with you. So lets go ahead and have a look at some of the sunsets here in Koh Phangan Thailand!

THANK YOU

Thank you buddy! Much appreciated. Was just looking at some of these photos, and I realized I haven't seen a real good sunset in at least a month. It's not rainy all the time, but there is significantly more cloud coverage. Even the last two days have been mostly overcast.
