Ideal place to live

My ideal place to live. You wouldn't believe it with all my complaining about hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding, but I'd not live any other place but my own state in the U.S.

First, I enjoy over 230 days with clear skies, and varying weather. In the east where I live to the south, it can be referred to as "subtropical". I just say it's very humid. The farther you travel west, the more arid and desert like it becomes. I can definitely say the population has exploded over last ten years to about 30 million people. I think the biggest reason is due to the moderate cost of living and tax-friendly ennvironment. In each of the major city, the housing market is doing extremely well with construction of new suburban neighborhoods.

Also, two of Texas' natural resources are oil and gas.

If suburban life is not for you, then take advantage of the wide-open spaces you can acquire land to live the laid-back, slow moving, country lifestyle. For others, they manage farms and ranches for livestock and/or produce.

But the main attractions I like are the numerous cultural activities. We have the State Fair, annual Rodeo, arts and science museums, theatres, the Alamo where Texas fought for its independence, and the Space Center located in Houston, Texas.

Texas is a beautiful state but I must admit Texans were the butt of many jokes when I lived in Colorado. The only one I can remember is....

What's the only good thing about Oklahoma?
"It keeps Colorado from touching Texas."

I think my favorite place in Texas is Big Bend National Park.
