Do you know the most dreaded nation in the world ?. I know you're now thinking about nations like ; Russia, North Korea, USA, Iraq and the rest, but it's actually none of them. Let me give you a clue, this nation has no flag, no coat of arms and it's territory is boundless. Figuring this out may be a bit difficult but if you're a student, you would easily know that the most dreaded nation isn't any of the above mentioned nations. A student always knows that the most dreaded nation is examiNATION. Yes!, examiNATION is one Nation people especially students dread.
A student once told me that school would have been more fun, exciting and pleasurable if this nation called examiNATION didn't exist. To students, the most annoying of all is that this nation called examiNATION is unavoidable as every student must pass through it, battle with it and defeat it before you can be set free, unlike other nations of the world like Russia, USA , Israel etc that you can chose to avoid going to battle with.

This nation is so dreaded that whenever it is mentioned, a cold chill runs down the spine of students. It's actually the students worst nightmare.

Waring against this nation can be really formidable. Students train for hours and days with their weapons of war ( books). They employ different rugged training strategies. Some begin to soliloquize, pacing from one end of the room to another and muttering some words under their breath, they call it memorising.
Some begin to consume large volume of coffee tea in order to stay awake and train( study) for the battle but most times eventually fall asleep on their weapon of war (books) while they are training (studying).

Some students even go diabolic, making sacrifices and invoking the gods of their lands for good luck. Some begin to pray always asking God for blessings. In my environment people dip their legs in a bowl of water as they train(study) to keep awake.

The fear of this nation can be shown in the way students react whenever they are made to face this nation. Indeed a lot really happens. Some students fall sick and develop a fever, here we call it EXAM FEVER. Some lose appetite for food, some begin to have nightmares, some even automatically begin to have frequent urination and some even have panic attacks.

This nation is one of the many reasons young people are afraid of school. When students train(study) and prepare for battle with this nation ( prepare to write exams), they are always very shabby and give no attention to anything else. They actually don't care about how they look or even what you think about them. They move around the school premises with their books and study materials wearing rumpled clothes, carrying undone hair and sometimes even acting crazy. Whenever students are seen acting or looking this way, you can tell that they're about going into battle with this great nation ( Examination).

So many weird and funny things happen during Examination. Sometimes you find students come into the exam Hall with their clothes worn inside-out. Some even come wearing the wrong pants. Some others come forgetting to take a bath or even eat. You see some people reading on the road as they're coming for the exam. Some refuse to speak a word to anyone because they fear that they would forget all they had memorised. Crazy things really happen when we are faced with this nation ( examiNATION).

I have had to face this nation so many times and the experiences aren't one I ever enjoyed. Before the times of any examination, I become very nervous and uneasy. I lose so much weight that I look sickly. I start losing sleep and start thinking too much about this nation ( Examination). I remember one sad experience I had a long time ago. I had stayed up all night to read for an exam that was to hold in the morning .The course was bulky and I needed to study it thoroughly. I had drank some kind of energy drink for strength and to stay awake too. After I had spent this long time reading, I went to the examination with confidence that I had memorised everything. When I was given the exam papers, I looked at it thoroughly but couldn't comprehend anything written on it. Words seemed like codes. It was as if my brain was frozen as I couldn't think anymore.

I saw the writings but couldn't remember any of what I had read, I wiped my face with my palm and robbed my eyes severally but nothing changed, I was still blank. I nearly cried, I managed to write just a few things and I submitted like that. This nation ( examiNATION) nearly made me a zombie

Another funny examination experience was when a classmate of mine confessed to the invigilators that he had suddenly developed a headache while he tried to solve some problems in our math exams. We also see situations where some students begin to shed tears as they write their exams, sometimes I wonder if they are eating onions or if they're overwhelmed by what they see.

Another funny incident was when I stayed up all night to read for an exam. The exam was to begin at 10am so I decided to take a little nap before it was time for the exam. I slept by 8am hoping to wake up at 9am then set-out for the exam. I was shocked when I woke up and saw that the time was past 10am. I just ran down to the exam venue the way I was, looking unkempt and badly dressed. I know some people would have thought that I was crazy because of the way I was running and how I looked shabby. At that moment, nothing else mattered to me. I just wanted to write my exams.

Everyone who has faced this nation ( examiNATION) can tell how dreadful it is. I know you would definitely have a story to tell concerning your experience with this nation. I would like to hear your stories too. Thanks for stopping by.

I definitely have a story to tell but if I start saying them... This comment section would ban me off 😂

I still don't see why every session in school should have an examination to move forward.

What if they just use attendance or physical wears and well kept note books to give grades 😂 this is just me thinking weirdly, I know.

Your experiences though, lemme nor laugh too much 🥲😅

The real question should be why we invented exams in the first place? Was it really necessary??
