My little Mathias had a slow development regarding his first steps, compared to his cousins of the same age (he has two little cousins who were born in the same month) the first one started walking at 8 months, and the other little cousin was already taking his first steps at 9 months, I must confess that this made me a little impatient, because although from the beginning I understood that each baby goes at its own pace, seeing that his cousins were already walking and my son was barely crawling, was something that even caused me anguish. However, I always liked to consult with my pediatrician about Mathias' development and that's what I did.
Mathias was much heavier than his cousins, by the time he was 8 or 9 months old, he was weighing between 9.5 and 10 kg, and although he was at a normal weight for his age, according to what the pediatrician told me his cousins were much less heavy and this made it easier for them to move around better, I was not very convinced by this theory, so I began to stimulate him a little so that he would be encouraged to take his first steps. I must confess that, although I was distressed to see the others walking and he was still swimming, I was not in a hurry because I knew that when those first steps arrived the mischief would start, and I had to restructure many things at home.
Although between his 8th and 9th month he was standing alone in his crib and going around and around, it was approximately the 11th month when he was able to stand up alone in his crib, however, when he was out of it, I imagine he did not feel the safety of a padded floor and was a little afraid. He still needed to strengthen his spine a little, that is what the pediatrician told me because when he was younger my mother told me that I could not lay him down on his stomach, and since I had no idea, I accepted what she said. So I had to spend hours with him, lying face down on the floor to help him with that.
And so it was that a few days after his first birthday we began to see the fruits, I remember that we would go in the afternoons to my brother's house that was still under construction, to supervise how the work was going and that was where he liked to walk and even crawl, and I was horrified because you could imagine how dirty it was. However, it was there where he took his first steps surrounded by my brothers and my parents, that was practically a party for us, and that is that his little face of joy was the most beautiful thing, that little face of mommy finally made it, now hold on because I will finish with all the decorations of the house hahaha. Mi pequeño Mathias tuvo un desarrollo lento con respecto a sus primeros pasos, en comparación con sus primos de la misma edad (tiene dos primitos que nacieron en el mismo mes) la primera comenzó a caminar a los 8 meses, y el otro primito ya a los 9 meses estaba dando sus primeros pasos, debo confesar que esto me impaciento un poco, pues aunque desde un principio he entendido que cada bebe va a su propio ritmo, ver que sus primos ya caminaban y mi hijo apenas gateaba, era algo que me causaba incluso angustia. Sin embargo, siempre me ha gustado consultar todo lo concerniente al desarrollo de Mathias con su pediatra y eso fue lo que hice.
Mathias era mucho más pesado que sus primos, para cuando él tenía 8 o 9 meses, estaba pesando entre 9,5 y 10 kg, y aunque estaba en un peso normal para su edad, según lo que me comentaba la pediatra sus primos eran mucho menos pesados y esto les facilitaba el hecho de poder desplazarse mejor, no me convenció mucho esta teoría, así que comencé a estimularlo un poco para de esta manera se animara a dar sus primeros pasos. Debo confesar que, aunque me angustiaba ver a los otros caminando y el aun nada, no estaba apurada por eso, pues sabía que al llegar esos primeros pasos comenzarían las travesuras, y tocaba reestructurar muchas cosas en casa.
Aunque entre su 8vo y 9no mes ya se paraba solo dentro de su cuna y le daba vueltas y vueltas, fue aproximadamente en el mes 11, cuando se pudo parar solito dentro de su cuna, sin embargo, cuando estaba fuera de ella, imagino que no sentía la seguridad de un piso acolchado y le daba algo de temor. Aún faltaba fortalecer un poco su columna era lo que me decía la pediatra, pues cuando estaba más pequeño mi madre me decía que no podía acostarlo boca abajo y yo como no tenía la más remota idea aceptaba lo que ella decía, total ella ha sido madre dos veces y yo apenas estaba aprendiendo, sin saber que este era un ejercicio primordial para ellos y que era precisamente lo que le ayudaría. Así que me tocaba pasar horas con él, tirada en el piso boca abajo para ayudarlo con eso.
Y asi fue que pocos días después de su primer cumpleaños comenzamos a ver los frutos, recuerdo que nos íbamos en las tardes a la casa de mi hermano que aún estaba en construcción, para supervisar como iba el trabajo y allí era donde a él le gustaba caminar e incluso gatear, y yo horrorizada pues imaginaran como quedaba el de sucio. Sin embargo, allí fue donde dio sus primeros pasos rodeados de mis hermanos y mis padres, eso fue prácticamente una fiesta para nosotros, y es que su carita de alegría era lo más hermoso, esa carita de mami por fin lo logre, ahora agárrate porque acabare con todos los adornos de casa jajaja. Así es bella, cada bebé lleva su propio ritmo y por ello no debemos compararlos. Hay que darle su tiempo. Me gusta eso de que todo lo consultes con su pediatra.
