What My Son Learned About Motherhood in One Moment

I started feeling a very sharp pain in my cesarean section recently, but yesterday was unusual. I tried to endure the pain as much as I could, but all to no avail. It was as if a knife was right there at my C-section area.

Immediately, I started reflecting on the day I did my last surgery, birthing my third child, and the statements the gynecologist was making. The more I reflect on this, the more I feel the pain. But then, I had to endure until I couldn't and voiced out my pain.

My husband wasn't around; I only complained to my second son, who was right there with me on the bed. Immediately, my son made a statement that made me rethink. He said, "Thank God I am not a woman," lol. Really, why, son? I asked. He said he could feel my pain, and he remembered I told him that I have been doing surgery since I started birthing, and that means the doctors have been cutting my tummy with a knife. Mum, I can't withstand such. Thank God I am a boy, lol.

It sounds funny initially, but that's to tell the kind of sacrifice mothers go through just to birth living beings on earth, such as the presidents, lawyers, doctors, and many top people in our world today. It takes the endurance of mothers to birth them, and till tomorrow, I am proud to be a mom. I love to be part of humans who sacrifice to birth and nurture great people in our world today. Even my son, who is happy to be a boy/man, knows that men have their own heavy responsibilities, just that they differ, and none come as a platter of gold. That's just life, and for whatever role we stand for as parents, it makes sense that we do that with commitment, taking responsibilities...

For moms, it's not just to endure pain and give birth but to put effort into raising responsible kids, and for men, to play their fatherhood roles responsibly without shifting responsibilities to their wives.
