#CAMPFIRE CONVERSATION: Season 5 - [Fungi Lovers Challenge]

(Edited)

Hola, fungi lovers!

The next week of talks around the fire is over and it's time to take stock. I will try to be as short as possible

Our campfire company was not crowded. However, the topic was very tasty. We exchanged recipes for excellent mushroom dishes. It turned out that mushrooms go well with cheese and dough. On my own I would add that they go well with fried potatoes as well. And if you take young honey mushrooms, fry a little in oil with onions and pour in an egg ... mmmm. Excellent breakfast!

The spring snow has not yet melted, but this wonderful mushroom is already meeting the sun. Do you think that he got lost in three pines and wandered here all winter until spring? You thought right. The way it is. This is because they have not yet forged the knife that will cut off the leg of this boletus.
Happy weekend and spring mood everyone.

Happy Fungie Friday to you!

I'm waiting for your story by the fire

Unless otherwise specified, the text and photos are mine

These are some Birch polypore (Fomitopsis betulina) fruitings that I found while on a walk today. Birch polypore has been used for thousands of years, evidenced by samples of it being found along with the 5,300 year old mummy of Ötzi the Iceman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96tzi). The fungi can be used to fight parasitic whipworm (Trichuris trichura) as well as help seal wounds after being ground into a powder and mixed with water into a paste. Dried samples can be used to sharpen knives as well.

Any tinder fungus and birch also have many healing properties. They are used to strengthen immunity and even against oncology.
But I would not call these mushrooms the first spring ones, I would call them all-season (I almost said eternal))

Thank you for sharing. I'll have to look into the medicinal properties of these. My mistake that submitted one that does not first fruit in Spring. I misunderstood the post to mean that we should submit our first findings this Spring.

not necessarily this spring. Just the first spring mushroom in your mushroom places :)

My mistake. I posted this under the context that it was my first notable find this Spring rather than it being a fungi that first fruits in Spring.

Keep an eye out for black crackly looking chaga in the birch forest. When I see these birch polypores I often find some chaga nearby. I read somewhere that the birch polypore might get parasitized by chaga but who knows if its true or not.

Here is my first spring mushroom that I actually look for. I found this pair last year around this time. As for my first spring mushroom sighting I typically find amber jelly roll or wood ear earliest in the year.

A wonderful pair of morels. For me, these are also usually the first spring mushrooms that I find in the forest in spring. Unless, of course, you don't count the chaga and other tinder fungi in the trees :)

Hi, i found some baby morels (morchella elata) this week. They are really, really small actually, but i still was able to find four of them, because i have my secret places. I found them in the so called "Black Forest" in Germany. They are my favourite spring mushrooms and it`s always a pleasure to find them. :)

Wonderful baby. It's funny, as a child, I heard about these mushrooms that you shouldn't eat them. Spiders can hide inside the mushrooms)))
Until now I have not seen a single spider :)

The first spring mushroom for me is the one that looks like an acquired hose .. If I had to come close and touch ... To make sure it was real, and then I came across a lot of specimens ... I was really surprised how many of them it was ... Now I'm waiting for the rain for some new mushrooms to appear ....

It is a pity that such mushrooms do not grow here. This mushroom looks interesting :)
