Fungi in time lapse - amazing video

Several days ago I stumbled upon this amazing video about a master time-lapse filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg. His lifetime work includes many time-lapse documentaries about how mushrooms grow and develop and blossom.

It's fascinating how is Louie able to plan, predict, film, and cut the many photos into a video that shows you a lifespan in several seconds.

Wired's How Mushroom Time-Lapses Are Filmed is an eye-opening short documentary about hove this magic happens with the insights from the master himself.

Louie tells us that filming nature in time-lapse is a spiritual experience. I can believe him.

My favorite quote from the video:

All of life has a different framerate.

How very true. Every creature has a different, its own breathing rhythm, heartbeat, in this case, translated to framerate.

Watch it and enjoy.

Better and better

Hey, thanks a lot. Make a post on its own with this video.

We can even do a library (index list) of fungi timelapse videos :)

glad you enjoyed it.

if there could be many such vids -- ofc we should do that. but I remember only @sketch.and.jam shared 1 or two videos of his Oysters - and definitely his video were not perfect, this process has its underwater stones :/

so... I cant see from what we can make this possible index post right now. I dont have other suitable links.

I bet this guy kept that room very humid to be able to keep the mushrooms out in the open for filming. This was the best I could do with my oyster kits.

You are right. It's an art to keep the best environment (light, humidity, temperature, focus, ...) to get such results.

Your video is great too, congrats.

I tried one with my golden oysters too but I didn't catch them early enough to get the large growth results. This winter I'll give timelapse another shot with some mushroom kits.
