If lettuce could grow on trees.
Time for some Lichens. Because there is never enough of those :)
I found this old olive tree covered in few types in the park near me. Most trees are covered in lichens and mosses there, but this one had this thick layer of the larger type.
I believe this is Parmelia type. They have more flat surface (looks like lettuce to be honest), with lighter top and darker colour under. Often with some little hair sticking out too.
You can see another type of Lichen growing closer to the bark. More like a flat shell than sticking out flakes.
There was a spiderweb on the same tree that I just have to shoot as well. The light was just in the right spot despite all the leaves and branches around.

Tree lettuce is a good name for it. lol Very cools shots! I'll bet most people see that stuff and just assume it is part of the tree bark.
Probably! They are so close and so attached to the bark is look like it just changed the colour.
I like them :)
It would make for one chewy sandwich lol. At least you would get some antibacterial benefits from eating it in a sandwich, probably bitter tasting though.
Hahaha :D bitter and hard. Not sure if I would go for it.
Probably crunchy too, full of medicine a bitter pill that might cure some forms of cancer.
Did you try them?
I have nibbled one once, it was bitter and crunchy.
I'll try one next time :)
Our beloved lichens :-)
