Scleroderma citrinum, the Common Earthball fungus, (other name: pigskin poison puffball) / Tęgoskór cytrynowy (inne nazwy: purchawka kartoflana, fałszywa trufla, kurzawka, bycze jaja)

During my last foray into the forest, round mushrooms grew on the fallen tree. They reminded me of puffballs and as it turned out I recognized them well.

Scleroderma citrinum, commonly known as the common earthball, pigskin poison puffball, or common earth ball, is the most common species of earthball in the UK and occurs widely in woods, heathland and in short grass from autumn to winter. Scleroderma citrinum has two synonyms, Scleroderma aurantium (Vaill.) and Scleroderma vulgare Horn.

Podczas mojego ostatniego wypadu do lasu, na powalonym drzewie rosły takie okrągłe grzyby. Przypominały mi purchawki i jak się okazało dobrze je rozpoznałam. Ale grzyb ten ma wiele ciekawych nazw:

Tęgoskór cytrynowy, tęgoskór pospolity, tęgoskór żółtawy i trufla fałszywa[3]. Ma wiele regionalnych nazw: tęgoskór cuchnący, purchawka kartoflana, fałszywa trufla, kurzawka, bycze jaja.

Każdy może wybrać dla tego grzyba nazwę, która najbardziej mu się podoba :)

It turns out that the Common Earthball tasting is a bit like truffles, and it's all black inside. You can use it as a seasoning. For culinary purposes, you can eat young mushrooms, the middle of which is white, in small amounts.

Okazuje się, że tęgoskur cytrynowy trochę przypomina w smaku trufle i w środku jest cały czarny. Można go używać jako przyprawę. W celach kulinarnych można zjadać młode grzyby, w środku białe, w małych ilościach.

This mushroom grows on such a stately fallen tree. Interestingly, a tree that is slowly decaying is a good place to live for many organisms, including fungi.

Ten grzyb rośnie na takim okazałym, powalonym drzewie. To ciekawe, że drzewo, które powoli staje się martwe jest dobrym miejscem zamieszkania dla wielu organizmów, między innymi takich grzybów.
