Culinary delight
On this fungi Friday, I present a well-known mushroom native to my hometown of Morelos Mexico, it is Pleurotus excavatus or Cazahuate ears which is how it is called natively.
This fungus parasitizes tree trunks, it is normally found in a well-known tree in Morelos called Cazahuate, it usually parasitizes the wood of this tree when a branch has fallen or if it has any trace of damage, which causes that if the the tree is still small, it ends up being flooded by this fungus, since it causes the root to rot causing the death of its host.
It is known natively as ears since it resembles the human part called in the same way, although it is also called an oyster mushroom, due to its curious way of growing and its pearl color although sometimes it becomes a very faint yellowish color.
Its laminae are very thin and yellow together, the foot is very small, almost imperceptible when they are born and with the passage of time it grows and thickens a little, although it does not reach a considerable size.
This mushroom is widely consumed in the rainy season, thanks to the heavy rains that help these mushrooms grow in wild areas, although it is also common for them to be cooked and sold in the markets since they are considered typical of that season.
The broth has a woody flavor and the consistency of the mushrooms is very pleasant, they call it white meat, it contains many beneficial properties for the human body, it is a highly sought-after food due to its very accessible price, its great benefits and its characteristic flavor. It really is a culinary delight.

Those are some great photos and detailed information about the mushroom. What caught my attention was the tree you said it grows on. Very interesting because just the other day me and my mom were talking about flowering trees and she told me about the cazahuate tree. She's from Guanajuato but I usually go with my dad to Michoacan. Never heard of or seen such a tree there.
Looks so pretty on the trunk there. Would love to try this one..
