Mushroom Monday - Agaricus campestris

avatar

Hello friends.

Today I'll share with you a few photos of Agaricus campestris widely known as field or meadow mushroom. It is an edible mushroom and is eaten mostly fried, in sauces, or in a salad. Although it is delicious, a large intake or daily diet with this mushroom is not recommended. I found it near the lake in two different spots. It is quite big with a cap diameter of around 10 cm. It is not suggested to collect it near roads because it can be polluted by toxins or areas where pesticides are used.

Have you ever eaten them? I have yet to try them as I've only found old specimens I wonder if they taste like regular button mushrooms or something different.

No I haven't. These are the first I found here and are close to the area where I think that pesticides are used regularly. On the other hand I found a few more places with young oyster, enokitake and parasol mushrooms. I'll pick them when they grow up. Haven't found 'funny' shrooms yet. And those I'd like to try.

You need a cow pasture to find the funny mushrooms.

I could not but agree with you!

(a sad thing, I had no one around me, and nothing like that at my village). at the city lawns, theres only dog-walking-out sites :P they produced something good that mushrooms are fond of, too!

In North Carolina those funny mushrooms are all over the place in cow pastures. Also there are a ton of fried out stoners hanging around there lol.

Yeah drunk on drugs basically. Bunch of deranged looking tweakers falling over themselves taking bites out of rocks and showering in the dirt.
