Greetings, fungi lovers! Today I'm showing you all songs strange fungus I spotted off a trail in the Indiana Dunes State Park. The bright scarlet coloring caught my eye. I do not know what species it is, but perhaps some of you might know. Be sure to let me know in the comments!
That's all for now!

Aww you found a little spot of chicken of the woods. Its somewhat rare to grow this early but it was probably spurred on by the cooler summer we've been having.

Could it be mistaken for another?

The only other one it could be is berkeley's polypore which is also edible but not as tasty... also berkeley's tends to be more drab in color compared to the bright orange of chicken of the woods.
