I Believe I can Fly - Revisiting the Basics

We have heard this phrase so many times in our life, we may have lost the meaning engraved in it. It is like going to a fast food chain and gobbled up the whole burger without even thinking about the taste. The meaning this phrase tries to portray is not as strong for me as I first heard. Why is that the case?

There could be many factors depending on how you lived your life and how you are living your life. For me, the meaning diluted a bit once I settled down and achieved (?) the type of life I was aspiring to have. Nobody can say they are satisfied with their life and have achieved everything they desire for. But, I am pretty okay with what I am doing. Of Course there are cravings and wants but I can manage with what I have.

This is the exact feeling - satisfaction, content, and let go attitude - that has diluted the ambitious vibe the phrase exudes. It is about believing in doing something that is unimaginable and unthinkable to others. We don’t have wings and we cannot fly like birds on our own. However, we can believe we can fly and make it happen.

The grinding, planning, striving forward and achieving are some of the things that you may want to continue all your life. Meanings could change, ambitions may take different shapes and structure and the size of your ambition could vary but the core value of ‘can do attitude’ should remain the same.

I am not writing this just because I am posting it here on Hive. I am reminded of this by my son who is now starting to walk on his own. I am running after him all day and I see him fall and stand up again. He does that countless number of times a day. He falls and stands back again. He doesn't care if this can be done or not. He does not worry about the failure nor worries about the society. His goal is to stand up and walk and he stays focused. I am witnessing the growth he is gaining.

I am relearning the basics from my son, yet again. I may have forgotten the idea of the phrase but being with my son has rekindled the meaning it carries.

Taking a leaf from my son’s playbook, maybe I should start setting new goals. I definitely should continue studying basics on how to trade. I know it is difficult, there are challenges and could feel like worthless but I believe I can fly ( or trade crypto :P)

We mature, our tastes and preferences change, we experience new for better and worse - we can always be curious, we can always look for a better way, we can always discover more of who we are.

Yes. I meant that. You said it better :P :D
Curiosity is the key to have that 'can do' attitude irrespective of your age and situation. Once we lose that, the core behind your inquisitiveness is gone.
