I hope you are well🩷 In the last two weeks I connected with a k-drama as I had not done before, normally I don't watch them often because I'm not a fan of drama, but sometimes one comes along that catches my attention. I started watching this series on the recommendation of a friend, and she got it completely right, since from the first episode I loved it, no unnecessary drama, well-developed story, characters you connect with, and the attempt to fight with the prejudice towards psychology/psychiatry.

It has all the factors to be a good series, and for that reason I now come to recommend it to you as well✨

Espero que se encuentren bien🩷 En las últimas dos semanas me conecté con un k-drama como no lo había hecho antes, normalmente no los veo con frecuencia porque no soy fan del drama, pero a veces aparece uno que llama mi atención. Esta serie la comencé a ver por recomendación de una amiga, y acertó completamente, dado que desde el primer capítulo me encantó, sin dramas innecesarios, con una historia bien desarrollada, personajes con quiénes conectas, y el intento de luchar con el prejuicio hacia la psicología/psiquiatría.

Tiene todos los factores para ser una buena serie, y por esa razón ahora vengo a recomendárselas también✨

A daily dose of sunshine takes place in the psychiatric department of a hospital, where nurse Jung Da-eun has been transferred and decides to bring a ray of sunshine, joy and calm to the variety of tormented patients, while learning the breadth and importance of the workings of the human mind. At first it was extremely difficult for Jung Da-eun to adapt to the complexity of psychiatric care, causing her various problems with the patients, but as the chapters progress we see how she manages to handle the situation.

The series is inspired by a webtoon, and it is important to mention that its author was interned in a psychiatric hospital for a long time, which helped to develop the different cases.

Una dosis diaria de sol transcurre en el departamento de psiquiatría de un hospital, donde la enfermera Jung Da-eun ha sido transferida y decide darle un rayo de sol, alegría y calma a la variedad de pacientes atormentados, mientras va aprendiendo la amplitud e importancia del funcionamiento de la mente humana. Al principio fue sumamente complicado para Jung Da-eun adaptarse a la complejidad del cuidado psiquiátrico, ocasionándole diferentes problemas con los pacientes, pero a medida que avanzan los capítulos vemos como ella logra manejar la situación.

La serie está inspirada en un webtoon, y es importante mencionar que su autora estuvo internada en un hospital psiquiátrico por un largo tiempo, lo que ayudó a desarrollar los diferentes casos.

I've seen other similar series that try to include psychology in their stories, but I hadn't found one where this topic was the main plot, and it usually shows only the superficial part of the iceberg. Being a k-drama I didn't have the expectation that they would tackle the topic in a deep way because of culture and belief issues, so starting to watch it without so much faith helped to make me more surprised.

I loved the fact that they were realistic with the psychological issues, showing them as they are, without censorship; using terms of the profession and explaining what they meant, demonstrating the complicated work of anyone involved in this work, that it is not just about saying "nice words" and that it is not people's fault to feel or behave this way, on the contrary, in several moments they emphasize that a person with a psychological disorder or conflict is not guilty, can go on with their life and is still as valuable as everyone🩵

He visto otras series similares que intentan incluir la psicología en sus historias, pero no había encontrado una en donde este tema fuera la trama principal, e igual se suele mostrar solo la parte superficial del iceberg. Al ser un k-drama no tenía la expectativa de que abordaran el tema de manera profunda por cuestiones de cultura y creencias, así que comenzar a verlo sin tanta fe ayudó a que me sorprendiera más.

Me encantó el hecho de que fueron realistas con los temas psicológicos, mostrándolos tal cual son, sin censura; utilizando términos de la profesión y explicando que significaban, demostrando la complicada labor de cualquier persona implicada en este trabajo, que no se trata solo de decir “palabras bonitas” y que no es culpa de las personas sentirse o comportarse así, al contrario, en varios momentos hacen énfasis en que una persona con un trastorno o conflicto psicológico no es culpable, puede continuar con su vida y sigue siendo tan valiosa como todos🩵

Another element that I liked is that each chapter presents a different psychiatric case, they explain the development of the case: symptoms, causes, and treatment, therefore, the audience is not blind about what is happening, but you really learn and understand the cases, topics such as bipolar or schizophrenia, are explained in a simple way so you at least know a little about what the patient goes through.

Also, the cases themselves are very interesting, and you empathize with the patients and their life situation. It is difficult to recognize that there are people who go through that every day, that it is not just fiction, the cases are not extraordinary, the truth is that they are very ordinary and that was what I liked the most, because it reflects that anyone can present the same, and that is why it is important to take care of our mental health.

Otro elemento que me gustó es que cada capítulo presenta un caso psiquiátrico diferente, explican el desarrollo del mismo: síntomas, causas, y tratamiento, por ende, el público no está a ciegas sobre lo que está sucediendo, sino que realmente aprendes y comprendes los casos, temas como la bipolaridad o esquizofrenia, son explicados de manera sencilla para que al menos conozcas un poco sobre lo que atraviesa el paciente.

Además, que en sí mismos los casos son muy interesantes, y empatizas con los pacientes y su situación de vida. Es difícil reconocer que hay personas que atraviesan por eso cada día, que no es solo ficción, los casos no son extraordinarios, la verdad es que son muy ordinarios y eso fue lo que me gustó más, porque refleja que cualquiera puede presentar lo mismo, y que por eso es importante cuidar nuestra salud mental.

All the characters are relevant, they add some significant detail to the story, but the nurses are the main thing here. They have to be with the hospitalized patients all day long, attend to them, take care of them, and endure the day with every inconvenience. And there are three of them that touched my heart:

Jung Da-eun, the main character, is impeccable. For me, she is a hardworking and persevering woman, the sweet and attentive way she takes care of each patient, it's not just doing what she has to do, she creates a bond with each one, she listens to them, she cares about them as people. She gets so involved that she also develops a mental illness when one of the patients passes away, for her it is not a job, she is happy in what she does.

Min Deul-re, is a nurse who doesn't enjoy her job, but she does it because she needs the money. She does her job very well, but it is not what fills her heart, in all her life she has never given herself the chance to find out what she likes, and what she wants. It's only until the end of the series that she realizes that her life is valuable, that she deserves to find and pursue her happiness, and she begins to make difficult decisions around that. It was very inspiring.

Park Soo-yeon is the second in command of the nurses, but she also has the difficult job of being a mother. With her we see the sad reality of many working mothers, who have no support at home, who have to go out every day for a hard day's work and then come home to continue working as a housewife. It was nice to see her understand that she also needed a break, and to take time for herself.

Todos los personajes son relevantes, le agregan algún detalle significativo a la historia, pero las enfermeras son lo principal aquí. Ellas deben estar todo el día con los pacientes hospitalizados, atenderlos, cuidarlos, y soportar la jornada con cada inconveniente. Y hay tres de ellas que llegaron a mi corazón:

Jung Da-eun, la protagonista, es impecable. Para mí, es una mujer trabajadora y perseverante, la manera tan dulce y atenta en que atiende a cada paciente, no es solo hacer lo que tiene que hacer, ella crea un vínculo con cada uno, los escucha, se preocupa por ellos como personas. Se involucra tanto que ella también desarrolla una enfermedad mental cuando fallece uno de los pacientes, para ella no es un trabajo, ella es feliz en lo que hace.

Min Deul-re, es una enfermera que no disfruta de su trabajo, pero lo hace porque necesita el dinero. Hace muy bien su trabajo, pero no es lo que llena su corazón, en toda su vida nunca se había dado la oportunidad de descubrir qué es lo que le gusta, y qué es lo que quiere. Solo hasta el final de la serie se da cuenta de que su vida es valiosa, que ella merece encontrar y seguir su felicidad, y comienza a tomar decisiones difíciles en torno a eso. Fue muy inspirador.

Park Soo-yeon, es la segunda al mando de las enfermeras, pero además, tiene el difícil cargo de ser madre. Con ella vemos la triste realidad de muchas madres trabajadoras, que no tienen apoyo en su hogar, quienes deben salir cada día a realizar una difícil jornada de trabajo y luego llegar a su casa a continuar trabajando como ama de casa. Fue agradable verla entender que ella también necesitaba un descanso, y tomarse tiempo para sí misma.

But we can't forget that it's a k-drama, and if there's something these series are characterized by, it's their romance stories. There are two romances in the plot, both I find beautiful, they have a development, daily complications, without toxicity; there are several scenes in both couples that make your heart happy, especially when the girls are going through hard times, but the guys know how to support them, and help them move on. They are very nice loves, that every romantic in this world deserves.

Pero no podemos olvidar de que es un k-drama, y si hay algo por lo que están caracterizadas estas series es por sus historias de romance. Hay dos romances en la trama, ambos me parecen hermosos, tienen un desarrollo, complicaciones cotidianas, sin toxicidad; hay varias escenas en ambas parejas que te alegran el corazón, especialmente cuando las chicas están atravesando momentos difíciles, pero los chicos saben cómo apoyarlas, y ayudarlas a seguir adelante. Son amores muy lindos, que cada romántico en este mundo merece.

You can see that this k-drama won my heart, both from the psychology, romance, and with my obsession with watching series. It has no overly dramatic scenes or cringe, no unnecessary plot twists, no fillers that bore you, it is very accurate in the story it tells, therefore, with only one season of 12 episodes it was necessary to bring this story to life.

I hope you can give it a chance, and never forget that mental health is as important as physical health, that these people are not to blame for what happens to them and that everyone deserves support. Going to a psychologist is not for crazy people, on the contrary, there is no one braver than a person who takes charge of their problems✨

Pueden ver que este k-drama se ganó mi corazón, tanto desde la psicología, el romance, como con mi obsesión por ver series. No tiene escenas excesivamente dramáticas o cringe, no hay giros innecesarios en la trama, no hay rellenos que te aburren, es muy precisa en la historia que cuenta, por lo tanto, solo con una temporada de 12 capítulos fue necesario para darle vida a esta historia.

Espero que puedan darle una oportunidad, y nunca olviden que la salud mental es tan importante como la salud física, que estas personas no tienen la culpa de lo que les sucede y que todos merecen apoyo. Ir al psicólogo no es para locos, al contrario, no hay nadie más valiente que una persona que se hace cargo de sus problemas✨
