Hace unos días pude ver por fin la película adaptada del exitoso musical de Broadway "Dear Evan Hansen" y la verdad es que me gustó mucho. Había leído mucho sobre esta obra pero nunca había visto nada al respecto, salvo una canción incluida en la película que escuché el año pasado en la voz de la cantante Tori Kelly, ella realizó un cover como parte de la promoción de la misma y ahí supe que la película iba a ser estrenada.

A few days ago I was finally able to see the movie adapted from the successful Broadway musical "Dear Evan Hansen" and the truth is that I really liked it. I had read a lot about this work but had never seen anything about it, except for a song included in the movie that I heard last year in the voice of the singer Tori Kelly, she covered it as part of the promotion of it and there I knew that the film was going to be released.

Es un guión original y abarca bastantes temas en sus 2 horas y algo de largometraje. Es reflexiva y deja estelas de morajes a lo largo de ese tiempo, refleja un montón de errores en nuestra sociedad, en especial en la juvenil y toca puntos tan importantes como los problemas de salud mental, el bullying y el manejo de las redes sociales.

It is an original script and covers quite a few topics in its 2 hours and some feature film. It is reflective and leaves traces of morajes throughout that time, it reflects a lot of errors in our society, especially in youth and touches on such important points as mental health problems, bullying and the management of social networks.

Ben Platt fue el encargado de darle vida al personaje protagónico en la pantalla grande de esta adaptación, Evan Hansen, quien asiste a su último año de secundaria pero que sufre de un trastorno de ansiedad social que le impide disfrutar de una vida "normal" como el resto de los muchachos de su edad.

Ben Platt was in charge of bringing to life the main character on the big screen of this adaptation, Evan Hansen, who attends his last year of high school but suffers from a social anxiety disorder that prevents him from enjoy a "normal" life like the rest of the boys of his age.

Sin tener amigos reales, (salvo un conocido que le pide llamarlo "amigo familiar" ya que sus familias son cercanas pero ellos no) Hansen se propone hacer amigos en su último año de escuela y recoger el valor para hablar con la chica de sus sueños pero nada sale como lo tiene planeado y es justo cuando decide cambiar su vida poco a poco que ésta cambia drásticamente de la noche a la mañana tras un evento delicado que lo saca de su zona de comfort y lo lleva a los brazos de la chica de sus sueños.

Having no real friends, (except for an acquaintance who asks him to call him "family friend" since their families are close but they aren't) Hansen sets out to make friends in his last year of school and muster up the courage to talk to the girl from his dreams but nothing goes as planned and it is just when he decides to change his life little by little that it changes drastically overnight after a delicate event that takes him out of his comfort zone and takes him into the arms of the girl of his dreams.

Una serie de eventos lo llevan a crear una realidad que no existió con el fin de dar consuelo a la familia de su enamorada pero una mentira lo lleva a otra y otra mentira lo lleva a otra más grande y comienza a crearse un mundo de mentiras que finalmente no puede ser sostenido por más tiempo y colapsa sobre él, arrastrando todo lo bueno que había logrado hasta ese momento.

A series of events lead him to create a reality that did not exist in order to comfort his girlfriend's family, but one lie leads to another and another lie leads to a bigger one and a world of lies begins to be created that finally it can't be sustained any longer and it collapses on top of him, dragging down all the good it had accomplished up to that point.

Y como buen musical, no pueden faltar unas cuantas canciones originales que formen parte de la adaptación en la gran pantalla. Todos los personajes cantan durante distintas partes de la película y el elenco entero estuvo a la altura de la tarea ya que todos hicieron un trabajo actoral increíble y además de eso debieron cantar (y también lo hicieron increíblemente genial).

And as a good musical, you can not miss a few original songs that are part of the adaptation on the big screen. All the characters sing during different parts of the movie and the entire cast was up to the task as they all did an amazing job acting and on top of that they had to sing (and they did amazingly great too).

Pero quienes se llevaron todos los puntos por sus actuaciones y el trabajo musical fueron Ben Platt y Amy Adams, en mi opinión. Me llevé la sorpresa con Julianne Moore, desconocía por completo que podía cantar y aunque solo lo hizo una sola vez durante toda la película, bastó para que yo conociera la otra parte de su talento.

But the ones who got all the points for their performances and musical work were Ben Platt and Amy Adams, in my opinion. I was surprised with ** Julianne Moore **, she was completely unaware that she could sing and although she only did it once during the entire film, it was enough for me to know the other part of her talent.

Fueron varias las canciones que llegaron al corte final de la película pero la que se quedó atascada en mi cabeza fue "Waving Through A Window" que fue la canción con la que se abrió la película, es un solo cantado por Platt de forma increíble. Creo que respetaron la versión hecha para Broadway porque todo el arreglo musical grita Broadway, al menos a mi me hizo sentir que así era.

There were several songs that made it to the final cut of the film but the one that stuck in my head was "Waving Through A Window" which was the song with which the film opened, it's a solo by Platt in an incredible way. I think they respected the version made for Broadway because the whole musical arrangement screams Broadway, at least it made me feel like it was.

Algo que aún logro descifrar es si las canciones interpretadas por Platt fueron cantadas en riguroso directo, es decir, no fue un lip sync, pues el sonido es demasiado crudo para ser una grabación y la precisión entre el movimiento de los labios y el audio de la canción parecen ser impecables, aunque estamos hablando de un actor profesional y con experiencia en Broadway, creo estar casi seguro de que al menos algunas de las partes de sus canciones fueron cantadas en vivo durante la filmación de las escenas, de ser cierto, eso le daría un gran punto a favor para la película desde el punto de vista técnico porque hay mucho trabajo detrás de esos detalles.

Something that I still manage to decipher is if the songs performed by Platt were sung live, that is, it was not a lip sync, since the sound is too raw to be a recording and the precision between the movement of the lips and the audio of the song seem to be impeccable, although we are talking about a professional actor and with experience in Broadway, I think I am almost sure that at least some of the parts of his songs were sung live during the filming of the scenes, of If true, that would give the film a huge plus from a technical point of view because there is a lot of work behind those details.

Todas las actuaciones me gustaron, cada una tuvo su variación de intensidad o sentido dentro de la narrativa que envuelve la trama de la película. Destacan los papeles principales, por supuesto, y uno secundario que me gustó bastante, que aunque tiene una participación significativa, lo ejecutó bastante bien y logró quedarse en mi memoria.

I liked all the performances, each one had its variation of intensity or meaning within the narrative that surrounds the plot of the film. The main roles stand out, of course, and a secondary one that I quite liked, that although it has a significant participation, it was executed quite well and will remain in my memory.

Un personaje innecesario fue el "amigo familiar", no sé si en la versión original de Broadway tiene mayor participación o relevancia, pero para la adaptación fue completamente un personaje de relleno e incluso hasta puedo decir que fue una especie de bully personal en contra del protagonista.

An unnecessary character was the "family friend", I don't know if in the original version of Broadway he has more participation or relevance, but for the adaptation he was completely a filler character and I can even say that he was a kind of personal bully in against the protagonist.

Uno de los temas más delicados tocados en esta película es el suicido y lo hacen de una forma muy discreta (visualmente hablando) y cuando se cree que será explícita, logran mantenerlo en la imaginación del espectador sin necesidad de mostrar algo directamente relacionado pero se sabe que hablan de esa acción. Es narrado desde 2 perspectivas distintas y ambas tienen similitud pero el tratamiento es diferente. Fue un punto interesante que capté durante todo el film y me pareció acertado crear este tipo de puntos y hacerlos notar dentro de la historia para enviar una señal de alerta sobre una situación como esta en la vida real.

One of the most delicate topics touched on in this film is suicide and they do it in a very discreet way (visually speaking) and when it is believed that it will be explicit, they manage to keep it in the viewer's imagination without the need to show something directly related but it is known that speak of that action. It is narrated from 2 different perspectives and both have similarities but the treatment is different. It was an interesting point that I picked up throughout the film and it seemed right to me to create these kinds of points and make them noticeable within the story to send a warning signal about a situation like this in real life.

Con respecto a la controversia en torno a la edad de Platt y lo incorrecto que se sintieron varias personas con respecto a la interpretación de papel protagónico en la película, puedo asegurar que eso no detuvo a la producción ni al estudio de ofrecerle el papel a Ben sabiendo que iba a existir cierta controversia alrededor de ese tema y tal vez una parte de esa decisión fue basada en ese mismo punto, generar conversación sobre la película en redes incluso antes de empezar a grabarla.

Regarding the controversy surrounding Platt's age and how wrong several people felt about playing the lead role in the film, I can assure you that didn't stop the production or studio from offering him the role to Ben knowing that there was going to be some controversy around that topic and maybe a part of that decision was based on that same point, generating conversation about the movie on networks even before starting to record it.

Desde mi perspectiva, nadie, absolutamente nadie puede hacer lo que Ben hizo con este personaje en la película, fue un trabajo muy bueno, bastante interesante para mi ya que solo conozco algunos de sus trabajos previos pero ninguno que me llamara realmente la atención como lo hizo con esta película, así que, fue un acierto que hayan omitido su edad, que no es solo un número, pero en este caso lo omitiré porque su trabajo actoral habla por si solo.

From my perspective, nobody, absolutely nobody can do what Ben did with this character in the movie, it was a very good job, quite interesting for me since I only know some of his previous works but none that really called me attention as he did with this movie, so it was a good thing that they left out his age, which is not just a number, but in this case I will leave it out because his acting work speaks for itself.

Aunque no todo el mundo es fan del género musical, espero alguien por ahí pueda interesarse en esta película porque vale la pena, es de los musicales modernos más originales que se han llevado al cine. No revelé mucho porque poco puedo decir sin revelarles toda la película. Espero les guste y compartan sus opiniones conmigo, me gustaría leerlos.

Although not everyone is a fan of the musical genre, I hope someone out there might be interested in this film because it's worth it, it's one of the most original modern musicals that have been made into movies. I didn't reveal much because I can't say much without revealing the whole movie. I hope you like it and share your opinions with me, I would like to read them.
