Andor, The Newest Star Wars Tv Show. (Thoughts)

Last night I watched a 10-minute preview of the new Star Wars Tv show Andor, I didn't really know much about this show, other than the name of it and the fact that they were going to be making it. It stars the actor (Diego Luna) who starred in the film Rogue One, which in my opinion is one of the best films that Disney has released for Star Wars since buying the franchise off George Lucas back in 2012.

Rogue One Review, With Spoilers
I like this film, but at the same time, there were things in the movie that I wasn't really a fan of, I liked it more than the nitpicks though, to be honest.

One thing I didn't like was how slow it felt during the first half of the film, the film follows the character Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Who is living with her parents at the start of the film when they are visited by some imperials. The imperials end up attacking her homestead. After failing to recruit her father to help create the Death Star, the planet-killing super weapon from the original Star Wars film.

Jyn is taken into hiding after escaping the attack and it cuts to her years later, she is given a mission to steal the plans for the station and in doing so she meets Cassian Andor, who she recruits along with a team of others to help carry out the plan.

I always thought it was a bit slow, until, the second half of the film, where the action really ramps up as we follow the characters as they attack an Imperial planet in order to steal the plans and transmit them to the blockade runner from the original Star Wars film.

We are given one of the coolest scenes at the end, involving Darth Vader and that ending alone bolstered the film in my opinion, it was a kind of tragic ending too, seeing the entire squad carry out this suicide mission, ending in the death of each of them.

It reminded me of the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2, which is one of my favourite games in that franchise.

The Andor Show
From the preview we are introduced to this character before Rogue One, where he seems to be a rebel smuggler, who steals equipment from the Empire to sell on the black market, based on the preview, he is recruited by some of the rebels to help fight the Empire. Which leads directly into the plot of Rogue One.

I don't know if we will see any of the characters from the OG Trilogy, I.E, Lando, Han, Leigha, or Darth Vader, but it'll be interesting, nonetheless.

I went from not knowing anything about the show to being excited about it, within 10 minutes. It is created by the makers of Rogue One and the Director of the show (Benjamin Caron) Also worked on The Bourne Legacy. So, I'm expecting it to be a decent story, based on the visuals of the preview it is going to look great too.

My Favourite Era
This takes place during my favourite era of the Star Wars universe too, I love that time between Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith and Episode 4: A New Hope. A lot of the Tv shows have been made during this period and I think it's interesting, the period where the Empire is being formed, as the Clone Troopers and their equipment is being turned into all of the Iconic Imperial ships, weapons, and personnel.

Conclusion
Have you seen the preview? If not, it's worth checking out to get an idea of what to expect from this upcoming TV show. Thanks for reading, hope everyone has a great day!

There's another one coming out? I can't even keep up anymore, haha. I think at this rate they might actually end up spreading the audiences too thin around multiple shows. Strange moves from Disney with Star Wars in general. I recall that last show on bounty hunters didn't do that well.

I completely forgot about The Mandalorian. I'm definitely behind on that.

Mandalorian is great, I think there's 3 seasons out of that. Yeah the Book of Boba Fett was a bit crap, it had good moments but some really bad ideas. Kenobi came out recently too, which was actually okay. This new Andor one looks good.

Tons of shows but no film announcements, I think Solo really frightened them because they noticed how much money they lost. But, rather than evaluate the situation and do things better, they blame the fans for not loving everything they produce.

I watched the preview last night. It's been a while since I watched Rogue One, but I liked the way it connected up the dots. Definitely far better than some of the stuff George Lucas came up with after the original trilogy. He seems to lose touch with what people wanted from that universe. It definitely wasn't trade negotiations and politics. I'll be watching Andor. It looks different in mood to The Madelorian which I really enjoyed. I think Star Wars does need a little humour in the mix.

I hear there's a new season of Mandalorian coming out, I haven't watched the trailer for it yet. I can't wait to check out Andor, hopefully it's a good show and yeah you're right, the tone and mood seem to be different which should be a good thing.

I've always loved Sci-fi, I think it's my favourite genre, Star Wars started it all when I was really young haha

Welcome from Dreemport! I've loved using the site since joining, thanks for giving me the push I needed. I had been meaning to join it for a good while.

Yeah it was a sad ending for the film, but I think this Andor series is set to be a great show.
