👀 | Mi punto de vista | My point of view | 👀

The movie starts with beautiful scenes about rain in Japan, I point this out because I think the backgrounds of this movie are beautiful and worth admiring.

We are introduced to Takao Akizuki, who is a 15 year old student who wants to become a shoemaker, so he sneaks out of class to go draw in a garden, where he meets Yukari Yukino, a 27 year old woman who skipped work to go drink beer and eat chocolate.

She observes him, and says goodbye in a very original way, using a tanka. This scene is repeated consecutively until she is presented with a gift from Takao.

After a vacation, Takao returns to school where he realizes that the woman he met in the garden is the literature teacher.

To avoid teasing and harassment, she decides to skip work and stay at the park to reflect. The two meet again in the park and Takao recites a tanka to her.

After of a heavy rain, they both go to Yukari's apartment to spend the afternoon together, where he confesses his love to her but she rejects him.

After leaving the apartment in annoyance, Yukari seeks him out, they both open up about their feelings where she explains to him that because of their time together in the park she was saved.

1.- First, after finding out about taka, it makes me feel much more immersed in a Japanese context, I think it is very good how they added it in the film through a literature teacher.

2.- In this movie the theme of "shoes" as if it was about life stands out a lot, I don't want to make spoilers but I want to emphasize that while Takao was making shoes so was their relationship, giving a pair to Yukari was like a new opportunity to walk.

3.- It is notorious how the theme of love was treated in a mature and serious way, I am happy with the ending, I think it is realistic and adequate to the whole context that the movie presented.

4.- A quite subtle theme of this film I feel is the melancholy and the feeling of loneliness, this generates a quite sentimental atmosphere that is recurrent although it goes unnoticed.

I appreciate how it deconstructs two different realities, making it possible to empathize with both characters equally, there is no villain other than loneliness itself, the despair of not knowing how to keep walking.

I really feel that I told as much as I could about the movie, maybe I missed some details. I must admit that I would have liked to watch it for more than an hour, but I appreciate this format because it allowed me to enjoy it on different occasions without thinking too much about it.

This movie is a caress to my eyes because of the wonderful animation it has, at times I thought the sets were photos because of the amount of detail shown, especially the plants in the garden were beautiful.

Now with the movies I watch I appreciate the soundtrack much more, which I am always amazed with the coordination with the scenes and this play was like that for the first half, after that I feel it goes a bit beyond the scenes.

Even though it says "Romance" I don't agree, I feel that this movie goes far beyond the love between these two protagonists, I think it talks more about self-improvement.

I want to believe that it talks about pursuing our dreams, learning to value ourselves, to know our weaknesses to learn to walk every day.

That we will meet people who will help us when we see ourselves lost, in this movie they were strangers but I don't rule out that it could come from friends or family.

Sincerely, I invite you to see it, it lasts less than an hour but it leaves you thinking for a while, and if you are like me, you will want to draw shoes on the notebook hehe.

I enjoyed the scenery too much, I felt like I was in the movie but it didn't convince me with the music and the rushes, but for me the rest was wonderful.

In my opinion, it will be 8 points out of 10.

Liked this one, the best of Shinkai for me.
The frames are very beautifully drawn and that scene in that shed with all the background sound was amazing to see. :)
