Today I will be talking about one of the last movies I have seen. It is available on Netflix and it is called "I care a lot".

PLOT

The plot centers on a woman named Marla Greyson, whose job is to "take care" of elderly people by obtaining legal guardianship of each through a court of law. With the aforementioned Marla has total control over the person's life both medically, economically, and socially.

To achieve this, she has a very well-orchestrated strategy, both her performance in front of the court and the selection of each person is not a random operation. Within her team, she has the collaboration of a young doctor who is responsible for identifying potential candidates with certain profiles through her medical practice.

Crazy, Isn't it?

The plan is basically to place people in a "care center", isolate them completely from their relatives (if they have any), and once this is done dispose of all the person's assets either by selling everything they have or keeping whatever they want.

One day the doctor presents to them a file about a patient who meets all the ideals they desire, these patients are called "cherries". They are lonely, elderly, with some pathology that they can use to their advantage to hospitalize them and most importantly... They have a lot of money.

What they didn't know was this "cherry" they had found would complicate much their game.

MY REVIEW

I must confess that I loved it. In the beginning, I could taste the disgorgement in my mouth as I honestly did not feel comfortable with what I was seeing and the course of things, however, everything took an unexpected turn for me when the "cherry" began to take shape.

I already knew Rosamund Pike from Gone Girl which by the way is another outstanding film and I started watching this one because of her. I'm definitely in awe of her natural ability to make me adore her performances and hate the roles she plays.

I was detesting so much what Marla was doing that for that reason I almost stopped the movie when suddenly the framing starts to show a pastry shop, beautiful detail shots, some macaroons, and... Peter Dinklage.

I needed to keep watching!!!

Marla Greyson lets us see up close the potholes of an organized system and how they can easily be manipulated for a benefit that at the end of the story although cruel and ruthless ended up being legal. Her despicable intentions with precise acting got her where she wanted to go so her cunning and bravery are also on display.

The film has been categorized as a dark comedy, however, I would say it is more of a bit of action and suspense.

Do I recommend watching it?

Of course, I do! Remember, when I almost stopped watching it, it was because I couldn't deal with the bitter feeling I was getting from what I was seeing. The film is full of spectacular framing, the attention to every detail is exquisite and the cold tones that set the mood of the film are also one of my favorites.

... And another thing I love, the movie is not predictable at all!!!!

TRAMA

La trama se centra en una mujer de Massachusetts llamada Marla Greyson, cuyo trabajo consiste en "cuidar" de personas mayores obteniendo la tutela legal de cada una de ellas a través de un tribunal. Con lo anterior Marla tiene el control total de la vida de la persona tanto en lo médico, como en lo económico y en lo social.

Para conseguirlo, tiene una estrategia muy bien orquestada, tanto su actuación ante el tribunal como la selección de cada persona no es una operación al azar. Dentro de su equipo, cuenta con la colaboración de una joven doctora que se encarga de identificar a posibles candidatos con determinados perfiles a través de su consulta médica.

Locura, ¿no?

El plan consiste básicamente en internar a las personas en un "centro asistencial", aislarlas completamente de sus familiares (si es que los tienen), y una vez hecho esto disponer de todos los bienes de la persona ya sea vendiendo todo lo que tienen o quedándose con lo que quieran.

Un día el médico les presenta el expediente de un paciente que cumple con todos los ideales que desean, estos pacientes son llamados "cerezas". Son solitarios, ancianos, con alguna patología que pueden utilizar a su favor para hospitalizarla y lo más importante... Con mucho dinero.

Lo que no sabían es que esta "cereza" que habían encontrado les complicaría mucho su juego.

MI RESEÑA

He de confesar que me ha encantado. Al principio, pude saborear el disgusto en mi boca ya que sinceramente no me sentía cómoda con lo que estaba viendo y el curso de las cosas, sin embargo, todo dio un giro inesperado para mí cuando la "guinda" empezó a tomar forma.

Ya conocía a Rosamund Pike por Gone Girl que por cierto es otra película sobresaliente y empecé a ver esta por ella. Definitivamente me asombra su capacidad natural para hacer que adore sus interpretaciones y odie a sus personajes.

Estaba detestando tanto lo que hacía Marla que por eso casi paro la película cuando de repente el encuadre empieza a mostrar una pastelería, bonitos planos detalle, unos macarrones, y... Peter Dinklage.

¡Necesitaba seguir viendo!!!

Marla Greyson nos deja ver de cerca los baches de un sistema organizado y como pueden ser fácilmente manipulados para un beneficio que al final de la historia aunque cruel y despiadado terminó siendo legal. Sus despreciables intenciones con una actuación precisa la llevaron a donde quería llegar por lo que su astucia y valentía también están a la vista.

La película ha sido catalogada como una comedia negra, sin embargo, yo diría que es más bien de acción y suspenso.

¿Recomiendo verla?

Por supuesto que sí. Recordad que cuando casi dejé de verla fue porque no podía con la sensación de amargura que me producía lo que estaba viendo. La película está llena de encuadres espectaculares, el cuidado de cada detalle es exquisito y los tonos fríos que ambientan la película también son de mis favoritos.

... ¡¡¡¡Y otra cosa que me encanta, la película no es para nada predecible!!!!
