The Blind Side (review)
Esta es una de las películas más memorables y de mis preferidas, la disfrute de inicio a fin, y debo confesar que me cautivaron muchísimas cosas, dado que tiene muchos mensajes que extraer y valorar. Sandra Bullock es de mis actrices favoritas, la primer película que vi de ella fue "Miss simpatía" en el año 2000, y desde ese momento quedé fascinado y enamorado de su fresca y divertida actuación. Sin embargo en "Un sueño imposible" (título versión español) conocido como "The blind Side" (título versión americano), pude ver en ella un grado de fragilidad y humanidad increíble.
The Blind Side es una película basada en hechos reales, donde un joven abandonado por su padre y de cierto modo descuidado por su madre adicta, no se halla en la sociedad donde se encuentra, ya que vive en uno de los barrios más peligrosos de la ciudad. Al principio vemos que este vive en casa de un conocido que le ayuda a entrar a una escuela privada por medio de una beca deportiva. Mike, sobrenombre con el que todos le conocen, es un joven con un cuerpo particular que lo hace elegible para juegos deportivos donde se requieren fuerza, es por eso que el entrenador del colegio ve en él a alguien que puede hacer grandes cosas en el futbol americano y a pesar de sus bajas calificaciones, consigue que el consejo estudiantil acceda a que este chico entre a la escuela.
Sin embargo, las cosas se complican para Mike, una vez que la familia de su amigo y conocido se torna en problemas por su estadía, ya no lo podían tener con ellos. En ello vemos que el joven termina pasando las noches en una lavandería, con las mismas únicas ropas que tenía y aprovechando que las personas dejan secando su ropa para él secar también las suyas.
This is one of the most memorable movies and one of my favorites, I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and I must confess that I was captivated by many things, since it has many messages to extract and value. Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actresses, the first movie I saw of her was "Miss Congeniality" in 2000, and from that moment I was fascinated and in love with her fresh and funny performance. However in "Un sueño imposible" (Spanish version title) known as "The blind Side" (American version title), I could see in her an incredible degree of fragility and humanity.
The Blind side is a film based on true events, where a young man abandoned by his father and somewhat neglected by his addict mother, is not in the society where he is, since he lives in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods of the city. At the beginning we see that he lives in the house of an acquaintance who helps him to enter a private school through an athletic scholarship. Mike, nickname by which everyone knows him, is a young man with a particular body that makes him eligible for sports games where strength is required, which is why the school coach sees in him someone who can do great things in soccer and despite his low grades, he gets the student council to agree to this boy to enter the school.
However, things get complicated for Mike, once the family of his friend and acquaintance gets in trouble for his stay, they could no longer have him with them. In this we see that the young man ends up spending the nights in a laundry, with the only clothes he had and taking advantage that people left their clothes drying for him to dry his as well.
Por un lado vemos la fragilidad de un joven que no haya que hacer y cómo socializar con las personas de su colegio, pues lo miran con cierto rechazo por su aspecto. Pero por otro lado de la historia vemos a una mujer fuerte, perfeccionista que le gusta tener el control y organización de todas las cosas de su vida y las de su familia.
El encuentro de estas dos personas fue algo magnífico, pues Mike estaba en el punto más frágil de su vida al pasar frío y hambre, algo que hizo que a Tuohy se sintiera de cierto modo triste por él, sin embargo como mujer fuerte y decidida, invita a Mike a su casa para que pase la noche con ellos. Lo que no sabía es que no sería una noche sino parte de toda su vida.
Mike fue ganándose el corazón de toda la familia con su humildad y agradecimiento por la oportunidad que le estaban dando, sin embargo se muestra poco receptivo a la hora de hablar sobre su pasado, inclusive hace notar que no le gusta que las personas lo llamen "Big Mike".
A pesar de todos los cambios en cuanto a estética y aspecto de Mike, las personas seguían teniendo cierto rechazo por él, mas que todo algo racista ya que él era negro y con un cuerpo muy grande. Para las personas y conocidos, el hecho de que Mike estuviera viviendo con ellos era como una forma de ayuda, sin embargo, Tuohy les hace saber a sus amigas que él es parte de la familia y que le tiene mucho aprecio porque con él ha estado aprendiendo y descubriendo cosas de ella que no tenía idea que sentía.
La relación de Mike con los demás fue mejorando, inclusive se muestra unas escenas donde está jugando en el parque con unas niñas ayudándoles en los columpios. Al igual que la conexión con todos sus compañeros jugadores fue cada vez siendo mucho mejor haciendo que su carrera empezara a tener un auge.
Una de las cosas más interesantes de esta película es que Tuohy siempre la mostraron como una mujer fuerte, sin embargo cuando suceden ciertas cosas con Michael, ella muestra fragilidad y se esconde en su cuarto a reflexionar y quizás también a llorar.
On the one hand, we see the fragility of a young man who does not know what to do and how to socialize with the people in his school, since they look at him with certain rejection because of his appearance. But on the other side of the story we see a strong, perfectionist woman who likes to have control and organization of all the things in her life and those of her family.
The meeting of these two people was something magnificent, because Mike was at the most fragile point of his life, being cold and hungry, something that made Tuohy feel somewhat sad for him, however, as a strong and determined woman, she invites Mike to her house to spend the night with them. What she did not know is that it would not be one night but part of his whole life.
Mike was winning the hearts of the whole family with his humility and gratitude for the opportunity they were giving him, however he is not very receptive when it comes to talking about his past, even noting that he does not like people calling him "Big Mike".
Despite all the changes in Mike's aesthetics and appearance, people still had a certain rejection for him, mostly racist because he was black and had a very big body. For people and acquaintances, the fact that Mike was living with them was like a form of help, however, Tuohy lets her friends know that he is part of the family and that she is very fond of him because with him she has been learning or discovering things about her that she had no idea she felt.
Mike's relationship with the others was improving, including some scenes where he is playing in the park with some girls helping them on the swings. As well as the connection with all his fellow players was getting better and better, making his career start to boom.
One of the most interesting things about this movie is that Tuohy was always shown as a strong woman, however when certain things happen with Michael, she shows fragility and hides in her room to reflect and maybe even cry.
Una de las cosas que me impactó ver es que luego de que Michael fuera adoptado por su nueva familia, tuvo un accidente con su hermano menor, y tal vez en la película mostraron que Tuohy su madre estaba preocupado por ambos, pero quizás pudieron haber creado una escena donde ella tal vez estuviese culpando a Michael por su imprudencia al manejar, siendo que no es su hijo de sangre. Pero vemos todo lo contrario, más bien ella estaba agradecida que sus dos hijos estaban bien, y se torno muy preocupada por la lesión de Michael en su brazo, ya que este protegió a su pequeño hermano de que la bolsa de aire le hiciera mucho daño.
One of the things I was shocked to see is that after Michael was adopted by his new family, he had an accident with his younger brother, and maybe in the movie they showed that Tuohy their mother was worried about both of them, but maybe they could have created a scene where she was blaming Michael for his reckless driving, being that he is not her blood son. But we see the opposite, rather she was thankful that her two sons were okay, and she became very worried about Michael's arm injury, as he protected his little brother from getting hurt by the air bag.
De esta película aprendemos muchas cosas, pero una importante es que no fue solo la vida de Michael la que cambio, sino la de todos en esa familia, su nueva hermana mostro valentía ante el rechazo que mostraban sus amigas con respecto a tener un hermano negro, el pequeño hermano tuvo alguien con quien compartir y Tuohy demostró ser una mujer que a pesar de su fuerza y entereza, tiene unos sentimientos hermosos y llenos de humildad y fragilidad, no le importo ningún tipo de comentario racista, ella defendía a Michael como si fuera su real hijo, incluso lo amo tanto como a sus demás hijos.
From this film we learn many things, but one important one is that it was not only Michael's life that changed, but that of everyone in that family, his new sister showed courage in the face of her friends' rejection of having a black brother, The little brother had someone to share with and Tuohy proved to be a woman who in spite of her strength and fortitude, has beautiful feelings full of humility and fragility, she did not care about any kind of racist comment, she defended Michael as if he was her real son, she even loved him as much as her other children.
Una de las cosas claves que debemos saber y que se deja ver en la película es que Michael ya había estado en orfanatos pero que siempre había huido de todos esos lugares y regresado con su madre biológica. Entonces vemos que a pesar de las circunstancias él le tenía un profundo amor a su madre. Incluso vemos que él de cierto modo huyó de su nueva familia al pensar que estos lo estaban usando, pero realmente se dejaron llevar por el éxito que este podía tener en su vida sin darle un espacio completo a que este pudiera elegir su propio camino, pero al final vemos que lo consigue, y es el mismo camino que su nueva familia quiso para él desde un principio, una forma de mostrar que los valores, creencias y ciertos gustos eran compartidos mutuamente entre familia.
One of the key things we should know and that is shown in the film is that Michael had already been in orphanages but he had always run away from all those places and returned to his biological mother. So we see that despite the circumstances he had a deep love for his mother. We even see that he sort of ran away from his new family thinking that they were using him, but they were really driven by the success he could have in his life without giving him full space to choose his own path, but in the end we see that he gets it, and it is the same path that his new family wanted for him from the beginning, a way to show that values, beliefs and certain tastes were mutually shared between family.

He visto esa película ya varias veces y es muy buena, sobretodo por ser basada en una historia de la vida real. Comparto contigo la opinión de que Sandra Bullock es una gran actriz, la favorita de muchos.
Definitivamente lo es, y para quienes no creían en ella pues en esta película lo dio a demostrar.
Good movie, mainly for showing Sandra Bullock in another type of role (besides romantic comedies).
La primera vez que la vi no me impresiono mucho, hasta hice alguna mala reseña, no recuerdo, pero con el pasar del tiempo y volviéndola a ver cuando la pasaban en algún canal de cable, el film me fue ganando. En realidad su mensaje es muy emotivo. Me ha pasado con muchas películas, mi percepción sobre ellas cambia con el pasar del tiempo y un segundo visionado. Saludos!
Yo desde el primer momento que lo vi quede enganchado la verdad, me pasa con todas las películas de Sandra B. Hay tantos momentos emotivos y de mensajes que olvidas que se trata también de una película sobre el fútbol americano y el proceso de reclutamiento.
Esta película la vi, primero porque Sandra Bullock ganó un Oscar, segundo porque es un film basado en la vida real; recuerdo que hubo muchas críticas del momento de que Sandra gano ese gran premio, pero su trabajo es bueno en este film, pero no recuerdo contra quien compitió, imagino que si en este tiempo estrenaran esta película, seguro hubieran muchas quejas por ser vista como una en donde existe el estereotipo del "Salvador Blanco"; a mí me gusta, la he visto varias veces y es una historia entretenida, con un joven triste que tuvo la suerte de encontrar a una familia que le ayudaran a alcanzar un potencial.
Había leído también una noticia sobre un conflicto que hubo cuando ella gano el premio, creo que debe ser por ese mismo estereotipo del que hablas, sin embargo, su actuación era para que le dieran ese Oscar.
This is one of my favorite sports films based on real stories ever made. Bullock deserved her accolades for this movie and it brought me close to tears at multiple points... excellent film for sure.
Me too, I really felt like her in many moments, that is, the boy was changing her life, and me as a viewer the way of seeing life, so there was an excellent connection between the story and the viewers.
