[REVIEW] TOGO: The true story of the Great Race of Mercy.

I think we have all fallen into Universal's trap, they have told us a false story and most people have believed it. The Balto movie is the worst thing that could have happened to the history of cinema, creating a false hero that has won numerous awards and statues in various places. Disney+ tries to correct the big mistake they made, makes the search for the truth and tries to tell what really happened. That Balto is praised while the real architect of the heroic act attributed to him is a totally different dog, who was forgotten, is totally unacceptable. This film is the redemption, the story of Togo, the true hero of the 1925 Serum to Nome race. No more lies, no more falsehoods. It is time to know the reality.

Creo que todos hemos caído en la trampa de Universal, nos han contado una falsa historia y la mayoría de personas se la han creído. La película de Balto es lo peor que le pudo haber pasado a la historia del cine, creando una falso héroe que ha obtenido numerosos premios y estatuas en diversos lugares. Disney+ intenta corregir el gran error que ellos cometieron, hace la búsqueda de la verdad y trata de contar lo que en realidad sucedió. Que se alabe a Balto mientras el verdadero artífice del acto heróico que se le atribuyó es de otro perro totalmente diferente, que quedó en el olvido, algo totalmente inaceptable. Esta película es la redención, la historia de Togo, el verdadero héroe de la carrera del suero a Nome de 1925. No más mentiras, no más falsedades. Es hora de conocer la realidad.

The film tells the story of Leonhard Seppala, a sled dog trainer and his star dog Togo. It is about the well-known outbreak of diphtheria in Nome, Alaska, where 150 sled dogs and 20 person (sent by the governor) were used, including many deaths. The distance was no more and no less than 1000 kilometers round trip. Togo was the dog that ran the most kilometers with 563 kilometers, Balto made the final stretch with 88 kilometers run, taking all the credit for being the first to reach Nome. The story is even more heroic if one takes into account the fact that the antitoxin had to be delivered within 6 days due to the fact that he could not have much exposure to the cold.

La película nos narra la vida de Leonhard Seppala, entrenador de perros de trineo y de Togo, su perro estrella. Todo trata sobre el ya conocido brote de difteria en Nome, Alaska, donde se hicieron uso de 150 perros y 20 personas en trineo (los cuales fueron mandados por el gobernador), donde hubieron entre ellos muchos muertos. El recorrido era ni más ni menos de 1000 kilómetros de ida y vuelta. Togo fue el perro que más kilómetros corrió con 563 kilómetros, Balto hizo el tramo final con 88 kilómetros recorridos, llevándose todo el crédito al ser el primero en llegar a Nome. La historia es aún más heroica si se tiene en cuenta el hecho de que se debía entregar la antitoxina antes de 6 días debido a que no podía tener mucha exposición al frío.

During the film we will see how the bond between person and dog develops, how a relationship is formed and how affection is forged between the two. Various aspects of the animal's life are invented to emphasize and fill the viewer with emotions, mostly this occurs in the scenes of memories, where it is obviously almost impossible to have collected that information. Everything is done in such a good way that it achieves the goal of endearing you, that you don't want anything to happen to Seppala or Togo thanks to the great sense of friendship that is transmitted. It all comes to a head when we see them facing nature, with Togo the lead dog guiding Seppala's pack of dogs, while Seppala shows them where to go, the two handling the more difficult roles in their own way, supporting each other.

Durante la cinta veremos cómo se desarrolla el lazo entre persona y perro, cómo se va formando una relación y cómo se va forjando el cariño entre ambos. Se inventan diversos aspectos en la vida del animal para hacer un énfasis y llenar de emociones al espectador, mayormente esto ocurre en la escenas de recuerdos, donde obviamente es casi imposible haber recopilado esa información. Todo se hace de tan buena forma que logra el objetivo de encariñarte, de que no quieras que ni a Seppala ni a Togo les ocurra nada gracias a la gran sensación de amistad que se transmite. Todo llega a la cúspide cuando los vemos enfrentándose a la naturaleza, siendo Togo el perro líder quien guía a la manada de perros de Seppala, mientras éste les indica por donde ir, los dos manejando los roles más difíciles a su manera, apoyándose el uno al otro.

William Dafoe gives an excellent performance, easily surpassing the one he gave in the film The Lighthouse, his participation makes his character calm and delicate and he gets along quite well with the actress Julianne Nicholson who plays his wife, getting to be at the same level. These actors fulfill the arduous task of carrying merely conversational scenes, which stand out quite a bit almost all of them. I am not saying that the scenes are not spectacular, of course they are, everything is beautifully filmed from beginning to end, with beautiful shots of snowy landscapes but by focusing on conversations they are more concerned with developing the characters, it is more of a classic adventure film, the kind you don't see anymore.

William Dafoe hace una actuación excelente superando fácilmente a la que que hizo en el filme El Faro, su participación hace de su personaje tranquilo y delicado que congenia bastante bien con la actriz Julianne Nicholson que hace de su esposa, llegando a estar a un mismo nivel. Estos actores cumplen la ardua tarea de llevar escenas meramente conversacionales, que destacan bastante casi todas de ellas. No estoy diciendo que las escenas de no sé espectaculares, por supuesto que lo son, todo está hermosamente filmado de principio a fin, con hermosos planos de paisajes nevados pero al enfocarse en conversaciones se preocupan más por desarrollar los personajes, es más una película clásica de aventuras, de esas que ya no se ven.

In conclusion, Togo is an excellent audiovisual medium for the whole family, with excellent characters that will win the affection of all those who have the audacity to watch it, its plot is quite revealing for those who did not know the true story of what happened in the race for the diphtheria outbreak in Nome, where the wrong dog was awarded and the real hero was overshadowed. The best of all at the end is when he is recognized for all the successes Togo did at the end exalting his figure. It also highlights too much its impressive scenography in a masterful way, with a good arrangement of places. Not to forget what gives life to the film, which is mainly William Dafoe's performance. Undoubtedly an extraordinary film for you to watch with your dad, mom and even your siblings.

En conclusión, Togo es un excelente medio audiovisual para toda la familia, con unos excelentes personajes que se ganarán el cariño de todos los que tengan la osadía de verla, su trama es bastante reveladora para aquellos que no se sabían la verdadera historia de lo que pasó en la carrera por el brote de difteria de Nome, donde se premió al perro equivocado siendo opacado el verdadero héroe. Lo mejor de todo al final es cuando le reconocen todos los éxitos Togo hizo al final exaltando su figura. También destaca demasiado su impresionante escenografía de forma magistral, con una buena disposición de lugares. No hay que olvidar lo que le da vida a la película, que es principalmente la actuación de William Dafoe. Sin lugar a dudas una extraordinaria película para que veas con tu papá, mamá y hasta con tus hermanos.
