"A" to "Z": HIVE Movie Challenge [ #V ]

avatar

A challenge for those who like and appreciate the Seventh Art or, just want some cinematic recommendation. Let's do this!

What this is about? It's a movie challenge (Music A to Z Challenge) created by @serialfiller that obeys the alphabetical order where each participant has to remember two movies with the letter of the day (today the letter is V) of any country.

Don't forget about this: A brief comment on the chosen movies is also necessary.

Here are my choices:

V for Vendetta (2005)

Some movies become cinematic classics for many reasons, this one for example, managed to establish itself as one of the films that brings the theme "politics" in a new and higher level of complexity. Starring Natalie Portman and directed by James McTeigue (this is one of his best workds), the plot is all tied up in elements that involve society as a whole, in a very dangerous political game.

The story's script goes far beyond what can be predicted, and opens the door for many psychological elements to be discussed in many different layers. Whoever pays close attention to this film, will dive into an "apolcapitical" view of what the political system would be like if the population knew how strong all of them together can be. It is a very important vision of how much society can define its own future.

Vacancy (2007)

Although not the best suspense movie I've ever watched, I like the way this story is being built and how things revolve around just a couple (starring Kate Beckinsale anad Luke Wilson) living the most terrifying night of their lives in a motel on the edge of a highway. It's a simple idea, without so many complex elements or big surprises throughout the projection... But still, it's a decent movie and worth your attention.

The atmosphere of the movie tends to mix claustrophobic elements (mainly inside the room) with some dramatic points (that give a little more weight or script, which is sometimes a little slow and without depth) and the result - despite some very week points - is a suspense that has some good scenes of tension and an interesting struggle for survival to be watched (you know... just for the sake of entertainment).

See ya in the next round, folks!
