Feathered Friday #107__ Gamefowls by @melinda010100

Greetings to everyone! It's Feathered Friday once again my dear steemians. I would like to show this big bird with brownish-red feathers. This kind of bird is raised mainly as a gamefowl in the Philippines.

There are different kinds of breeding when it comes gamefowls. The above photo is the ordinary color of a rooster.

I have seen a lot of cockfighting birds in the arena. They look different from other roosters because they are bombarded with lots of vitamins and minerals to keep them strong and quick to retaliate towards their opponent.

I often hear them discuss about the good breeds such as rubles, Smith, white legs, green legs, yellow legs, etc. Well, honestly, I don't know which ones they're talking about though we had a lot of those kinds at the backyard of my in-laws. The better the bloodlines, the more it becomes expensive!

When the gamefowl is matured enough, the crown is removed.

Upper photo shows a young rooster. The buyer will take care of him and cut his crowning glory to make his head lighter and agile.

I have observed that they also count the number of scales on their legs. The higher it goes, the higher it can reach the opponent first.

Well, with their looks, they still need more preparations before they join in the arena. The taller they look, the higher they jump.

In reality, fighting cocks is natural thing among them roosters. Man only saw this ability that they became interested to see them fight. Roosters are territorial animals especially when it comes to their heating season. They fight over the female chicken. They were not forced to fight. Well, a love triangle indeed causes trouble. Oh my!
