Dream house...

Houses...

Some have a great atmosphere and others don't.
One of my grannies lived in a huge, white villa. It was bombed during the second world war. After my grandfather renovated his house he changed it against this one and... renovated it.
I loved that house, the high feelings, rooms bigger as our house, the walk in closets, the bay windows, stained glass, several entrances and the huge loft with two bedrooms and plenty of room left to bicycle around and the... basement. It was just the cold I never liked.

My other granny lived in a way smaller house, still four bedrooms the seize a bed fitted in and small closets were build in the house. She used beds you had to make, pull three straps around and lift against the wall. They were covered by a curtain. Great beds to jump at. I liked that house too. Especially the serving hatch and the letterbox which was an opening in the wall and the post dropped into a closet. The kitchen was small and just a little kitchen table fitted in. You could only stand between the kitchen table and sink.

I love old houses but looking back one of the best places I lived was a huge apartment. The area was not so great, the neighbors were loud, fighting and noisy.
Living there made me nervous at that time and it was no fun to stay there. These days it might be different.
In most cases neighbors, a bad area makes living a hell. It is a good reason for me not to buy a house. A house you can choose but not your neighbors.

source The dream house.

I always said I like to have a cottage on a hill surrounded by water and with a drawbridge. I might take crocodiles to keep visitors away. If it comes to it that will probably never happen. A cottage is seldom build in a country with a warm temperature and the crocodiles might suffer..

Now I am getting older I care less about houses. I just want a roof above my head and a room for me alone. Property, a house, these are all things you need to take care off. A house needs to be cherished, has a soul. If you moved as many times as I did you know what I mean.

In the end the only thing I want is a place with positive energy, where it is warm and cosy and I can be me. I can create that everywhere as long as I have curtains or blinds for shutting out the outside world and guard my borders.
It's not the house that makes living perfect but the atmosphere you create yourself around it.

Ooo a cottage by the sea. I like! I've always loved the idea of living by the sea or by the river, one that we can just run to and swim our hearts out. Catch fish if we feel like it. Row a boat to an island nearby. I love your idea of crocodiles but that can be scary if they come and bite you instead :D
But yah, as long as we have a roof over our heads, a place we can call our own, it is good enough. Thank you for your post @wakeupkitty <3

@marblely sorry, for my late response. We are not going to swim in my crocodile a water! I like them to stay healthy. 😐

Happy day. 💕
