Promoting Engagement Through Upvotes

Engagement is the life blood of a social media platform like LeoFinance.io & I'm more than happy to do my part to encourage it.

Sure we can get by with simply static posts and ignoring the humans that take the time to read and respond. But it's a lot more interesting and often a lot more valuable when the people behind the content engage with each other!

Incentivizing Engagement With a Single Click

It's been nearly 3 months since I decided to upvote every comment that's made on any one of my posts, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

It's not a monster vote, I vote with 50% power for each comment and it's a couple cents but it's one of the tools that's been provided that allows me to reward actions on the platform that I like and that I want to see more of.

If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure that I was inspired by @taskmaster4450le to start rewarding more engagement.

I know we're both big fans of engagement and see the value it brings to the platform. But he sets a great example by simply encouraging and rewarding the types of actions that you want to see more of.

That's the empowerment that a "proof of brain" style rewards system provides. Take things into you own hands and incentivize the types of actions you deem valuable and want to see more of.

It Pays To Comment

In more than one way it pays to comment but simply speaking monetarily, if you're new to the LeoFinance.io platform you'll be astonished at how rewarding it will be to regularly engage in the comments.

Jump right into the comments, add your perspective, your opinion, have a laugh, poke fun at something, ask questions.

It's not only the post author that might vote up your comment but often others lurking behind the scenes reading comments may reward you too, and it happens more than you would think.

If you're new to LEO I challenge you to comment on each post you upvote for a week and see what happens. You can always take a scan through your wallet and look for Author Rewards that aren't coming from your posts, those are coming from your comments!

You'll also very likely pick up new followers in the process. 😉

All of these people have generously upvoted a comment that I've left on one of their posts, they didn't have to, they're choosing to reward engagement, and I'm sure they'll continue to do this for as long as they're able to do so.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend where ever you are in the world!

Ciao for now,

@agr8buzz

It was @taskmaster4450le that turned me onto this too and honestly at this point i would rather be engaged in content i support than create myself.
I don't have time and i don't enjoy it. But i can still be part of the discussion and try to add value when i find others who create it.

Absolutely and that's totally ok! (not that you need anyones approval :p)

One of the great aspects of web 3.0 is that it can be used to encourage participation in a number of different ways, and they all add value to the network!

engagement is one great way to grow around here. Been doing more of that late and it has been really awesome to see how much one can achieve under such while

Awesome! Totally a growth strategy that I would recommend to anyone that wants to bring things to the next level.

From what I understood, the super-linear curve and the min-payout threshold of $0.02 makes it less attractive on Hive to upvote comments, esp. if your vote can't get a comment above the threshold. Is there any min-payout threshold also on the tribes?

Good question, I really don't know the answer to that one. There has to be a default amount in the tribe settings, that would be a good question for aggroed and the gang behind tribes.

Being mildly dyslexic, I require a lot of energy, time and often need an 'aid' to write a decent post and with Day and Night timers pretty full I'd rather curate in short bursts when I can get a break of anytime I get free time.
I've revisited Steem and the comments are almost entirely bots, very sterile and I seldom get replies on comments. It's like a ghost town.

I think that's one of the nice things about this platform, it can be as casual as you want! curate when you have the spare time or when you need a break from everything else..

Wow haven't visited steem in some time.. I'm almost scared to look. last time I check (a long whiiiile ago) it was almost entirely Asian language so I just wasn't interested. Of course nothing wrong with Asian I just don't speak Chinese or Korean so there's no entertainment value for me.

I love the idea and believe that the engagement is great.. especially as someone who still new on LeoFinance. Having comments replied to and starting a conversation, as well as them being voted on is a huge motivator to engage more.

Absolutely, arriving and creating an intro post and having a few people stop by to say welcome and hello, what a great way to get things started! Lets you know just how actively engaged some people are here..

That's very true!

Commenting can be a great way to boost engagement and also, as you mentioned, it really pays!

That's why we gather every day on the @leomarkettalk daily post to chat, share ideas, ask questions and promote engagement in this community.

I make so many comments I really wish I had extra high power available to vote all of the excellent content I see everyday.

However me and puppy dog absolutely love coming and saying hi especially when other people find the value of engagement as well.

Thank you from me and puppy dog.

It's a prime papered example of a German Shithead. Mr run away and leads me on a merry mile run

What a dog. Well more training now. And he is gonna learn recall if it takes the next week. And no off leash time until he gets it.

Grrrr

I usually reward engagement when I can. I tend to upvote allot so I have to watch my Vote Power. Its for this reason I like the tip bots like !ENGAGE and !BEER.
