How will Spruce Decentralized Identity Solutions Shape the crypto sphere?

Privacy is one of every individual's precious assets, a bridge to it is a bridge to a personal well being. Sadly, the world runs in a system with widespread privacy invasion, this was observed in Facebook's users data being harvested by Cambridge analytics, which was used for building voters profiles.

It is Alarming how big techs are always on the chase to get their hands on individuals personal information, the likes of Google, Apple and Facebook are well known to be selling users personal data. A lot of people may not be watching but the leaks of this information are parabolic, and the biggest player there is in this field is Google. A few days ago I had a conversation with my sister over some scary device discoveries. She got herself a new phone and everything concerning her old device was synced to this one without any proper set ups, and this includes her Playlist and contacts information, you may think it's a Google account setup but there is more to this. All being surprisingly reinstalled without her consent, she couldn't help but worry over how far her data may have actually traveled.

What Is Decentralized Identity and how will Spruce shape it?

Decentralized identity is a trust framework in which identifiers, such as usernames, can be replaced with IDs that are self-owned, independent, and enable data exchange using blockchain and distributed ledger technology to protect privacy and secure transactionsreference

An alternative to a world of data theft, blockchain presents itself with privacy protective options. The underlying effects of data theft are enormous, one of the greatest is the leak of users' financial status quo, which most people are highly protective about. Crypto and blockchain technology is designed to counter a lot more flaws than what has been unveiled.

With different applications operating with centralized one time sign in/up option, it becomes a necessity to have a seamlessly trusted solution. Spruce, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is backing a proposed system for secure sign-in using Ethereum from decentralized identity software firm Spruce. Spruce aims to be a decentralized option to privacy invasive tech.

Spruce’s system was selected after EF and ENS submitted a Request for Proposals in July encouraging developers and software firms to propose a sign-in package using Oauth — an open standard for access delegation.

Spruce having admitted that the Ethereum ecosystem is flooded with millions of monthly active wallet users signing with their cryptographic keys for financial transactions, community governance, and more, will be working closely with ENS and the Ethereum Foundation to ensure that it brings to the table, a not only secure and privacy invasive-proof solution, but also compatible option, complying with existing standards used throughout the Ethereum ecosystem. A lot more emphasis was thrown in that “the final result will be friendly to implementers while remaining vendor-neutral.”
By this solution, the Spruce team believes that millions of Ethereum users will be able to use a digital identity that they fully control to seamlessly access the web..

A lot of crypto users are big time no sayers to privacy theft, one of the beauty of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is its ability to bypass centralized operations and big tech data theft. The anonymity found in the embrace of the crypto space is a valued aspect of it. However, with identifications coming into the picture, going decentralized may be the biggest move. Though on the ground level everything stated here is still in a working phase, the aftermath on how it'd shape the crypto space and its economy is on an anticipation.
