Shinny TEXAS Silver, Miss Molly and A Little Art

Another Mixed Up Post ..

I have three cool things to show today, and I carefully selected them before writing this post. I have a few adorable pictures of little Miss Molly to share, some recently acquired silver, and finally a piece of my art called 'Three Ladies'. Another trifecta of a post you could say!

The Art ..

I decided to through in a piece of my art to make things a little more interesting. Not that Silver or Molly are not interesting on the own, but the art makes it better. I chose to include 'Three Ladies', or a version of it at least, because I associate Texas with cattle or steer. The silver that will be show further into this post, is Texas themed. These three cows are not quite the exact representation of what's floating around in my mind, but close enough.

The above photo was taken shortly after I completed the work. This original work started out as a blind contour drawing (For approximately the next 7 minutes, I keep the pen in my hand, glued to the paper (ONE CONTINUOUS LINE) and my eyes never once wandered from the subject photo (BLIND DRAWING). This is why the drawing is a bit grotesque and funky looking, but also why they call it blind contour drawing.) After the basic drawing was done, I went ahead and added some tonal value using shading.

Here is a link to the original post of 'Three Ladies'

A while later, and probably induced by boredom .. I added color and a twist to the art using an editing app called DeepDream. The results were kind of cool and made me want to redraw this piece and add color to it. I suppose I sort of did that in a shortcut sort of way. It's still my art, so I am still happy.

The Silver ..

So I dive back into my recent silver purchase from JM Bullion and draw out another of the silver rounds. This time it is a Texas Mint Silver Round Series piece called "2021 1oz Texas Mint Silver Round (New)" per their website. This round is the second one in the series of four rounds released or to be released. The series and designs honor the famous Texas revolution.. "The movement that separated Texas from Mexico and established the Republic of Texas, an independent nation prior to its admission into the United States in 1845..." source

One full ounce of .9999 silver! How they refined it more than .999 is beyond me. lol. Hey, let's just add another 9. Below are a few of the spec's on this particular round. I grabbed them off of JM's website if you are interested in buying your own or finding out more.

It's really a neat round.. The obverse design shows The entire state of Texas with the 'Lone Star' in the very middle. The state name, TEXAS, is written at the top in a nice bold font. The round also qualifies for Precious Metals IRA's, so that is also inscribed at the bottom. In my opinion, this is NOT a high relief design, but the edge of the round is a bit taller than the middle.

The Reverse .. Shows a scene depicting the battle at the Alamo. In the pressed image, you'll see the Texans battling the Mexican troops that were trying to breach the fort walls.. which they eventually did. I am really REALLY liking the design! The inscription states "Battle of the Alamo - 1836" and ".9999 Silver - One Troy Oz".

The Edge of the Round.. Is reeded. I think I mentioned a bunch of times, and will most likely mention it again, that I like reeding over a plain flat edge. The only exception is when they stamp something cool into it.

Now for some random COOL pic's ..

I shot a few photos of the round standing up on it's edge. I thought the reflection of color from the painting, in the shinny part of the round design, was neat. Maybe you think otherwise, and if so then skip on by these to Molly's glamor shots. You don't want to miss them.

Miss Molly Time!!! ..

You KNOW that I can't resist taking photo's of Molly while he is just lounging around. And, if you know Molly, you know that she L O V E S to just lounge around, eat, and ummmmm... Yeah did I mention lounging around? hehe.

Here she is chilling out in the bed at my cousins house up in Lancaster area. She is a bit disturbed that I am pointing the camera/phone in her face. You may be able to sense that from the look on her face. It looks like she is thinking "Oh Crap".

IMG_2284.JPG

So in that Oh Crap moment, she takes a lean backwards and prepares to stand up and get out of this situation. She does exactly that, but not before I snapped a good one. If it weren't for eating, she would remain in bed all day long.

IMG_2285.JPG

We never travel without her soft, comfy, round bed. We just bought this for her last year, but have not traveled without it once. She loves it! So it comes along wherever we go. As you can see, she is spending some chillout time, yet again, in the bed. These types of shots never get old.. for me and my wife at least. You can tell me otherwise if you like.

IMG_E2274.JPG

She's looking out the door, into the great wide open. So there is some form of activity being had. Unfortunately it is only visual activity.

IMG_E2275.JPG

I moved her out to the porch with the rest of us. She was like, "Why did you move me daddy?" at first, then settled into the idea of being surrounded by friendly faces and the prospect of getting a lucky treat or handout.

Nice and comfy

I thought so too, although many don't give a hoot about those kind of artistic details that stand out to me. Thank you for noticing that! 😁

I don't have one of these Big Texas rounds, is it bigger than the silver eagles in diameter? If I did, I may have to write a fictional account of the Bloody Raven's meeting with Davey Crockett before the Battle of the Alamo. There may be a little Terrier named Mully for added drama.

I love this 2004 Version of the Alamo.

Awesome stuff! My buddy and I were talking just the other night and he was saying he thinks silver is going to blow up soon. I don't know what he was basing it on, but it made me feel good to know that I have already invested in some!

I think silver is a good long term play. Especially if the electric Vehicle industry takes off. The requirement for it will go up. I don't know, a lot of people are skeptical of the value of the dollar dropping and thus hedging against that in precious metals. Makes sense to me, although I have no idea of when that may happen.

Good that you invested in some. Over time it will rise in value, maybe quicker than gold will.
