Bozzlife: LBI Vote Abstention

You are probably looking at the picture and thinking "what the heck does this have to do with finance at all?". The truth is, probably not much. What I am trying to convey is the idea of building something. Taking some raw materials and creating something pretty awesome like I did with the picture shelf you see here.

That is what I think is happening with LEO and LBI right now. The people who are working behind the scenes and at the forefront of these projects have been doing an awesome job of giving us some really great things to be excited about.

Just about two weeks ago now, the @lbi-gov team made their post about the LBI governance team and that they were looking for nominations. It took about a week before the first nomination popped up on our feeds.

I vacillated back and forth over the decision before I finally decided to throw my hat in the ring and so I wrote this post. For a couple of days, it was just myself and one other person in the running. More recently the levee has broken a little and now there is a good handful of really great candidates running for the team.

This led me to start pondering another decision...

A decision that became very clear to me last night as I was sitting through our school district board of education meeting. I haven't seen anything specific in the rule or guidelines from the LBI team, but at this time I am making the personal decision to abstain from the voting for the LBI Governance team.

Make no mistake, my nomination still stands, I plan on continuing to be a candidate until the last vote is cast, but my 2000+ LBI stake puts me in the top percentage of LBI holders (from the last list I saw anyway). I feel voting (for myself) with that stake could be seen as an unfair advantage and I don't want to give that impression at all.

This is a personal decision for me. Other candidates are more than welcome to use their stake to vote however they want. It is absolutely their right.

I have seen our school board members abstain from voting countless times over the past twenty years when a decision that was being made directly impacted one of their relatives or spouses who work for the district. That is why I feel it is necessary for me to use the same prudence in this matter.

So there you go, that is my stance. I encourage you to vote however you want and use your stake the way you feel it should be used. I have read the other nominees posts and I seriously don't think the LBI holders can pick wrong. They are all really great candidates.

I can't wait for micro blogging because this post probably could have been condensed into something on that platform, but oh well.

I am wondering that how many vote will be allowed for voting, if it is only one then I will be casting the vote but not for me.

Wishing you a good luck.

I was wondering that too. If each holder only gets one or two votes there could be one person that gets the majority and then the second and third person basically get in on scraps. I am guessing LBI probably has a pretty solid plan for the voting.
