How Long Do We Have?

source

When I first joined Hive 42 months ago the biggest fear was I was too late and that I was going to be swamped by a wave on new users. It was actually a good thing as fear drove me into taking this place seriously committing 8 hours or more per day on here. Thankfully I no longer think like that, but it definitely lighted the fire to get going and keep going day after day.

The time will eventually come and we have no clue when that might be so powering up and having stake is of paramount importance. The ability to earn by what you hold is a power than many will never experience when they finally arrive. There is only so much Hive to go around and with an ever increasing community those numbers drop very quickly.

A $5 or $10 Hive or even a $20 Hive will make accounts holding serious stake very rare once the gazillions of people arrive on here. A community of 1 million sounds like a big number, but is a pathetic number when we look at how many people could potentially arrive. With a potential supply of under 400 million and knowing plenty has been removed of exchanges recently what we have here is a ticking time bomb.

Thanks to @penguinpablo who keeps us all informed with his detailed posts on Hive and is someone we should all be following and paying attention to what information he is posting.

Imagine knowing when you join a project you can only buy in for what is available and that will also have a price tag to match as supply and demand governs the price of the token. 100 Million Hive means that right now a million accounts would be fighting over and sharing an average of 100 Hive which powered up today doesn't register a 1 c upvote. A scary thought and an interesting thought at the same time if you have stake.

If we take a country like South Africa who is currently looking into a Basic Income Grant for the unemployed which by the way they can't even afford to pay. Today the grant is R350 or $22 per month so it is not really a basic income and more of an insult. The new proposal is R1200 or $75 which is still insulting for over 20% of the country's population to have to even consider living in poverty permanently. Out of the 10 million or so even a small percentage have to be looking to supplement what they are getting and even if that was just 1 percent that is already 10% of the 1 million new accounts that are coming. Now multiply that by 54 countries just in Africa and suddenly the 1 million number doesn't quite comprehend as it is now dwarfed into being totally unrealistic. I think I can count on my fingers how many active accounts on Hive are from South Africa and that is something that will change and has to change.

By having stake on Hive one could make the Basic Income Grant within one day and that is how important having stake is. The millions that are going to eventually arrive will not have that luxury of having such stake and why we are the lucky few who knew. Not intentional rhyming lol.

As there is more economic crisis and uncertainty appearing in the world economy crypto will become a clear and obvious go to for everyone not involved already. The market cap of 2 trillion will also be insignificant when we look back in 5 years time at how early we all were and took advantage of what we had in front of us. Every week and every month that passes time has to be drawing nearer and nearer to a crypto mass adoption as that is the future of what is coming.

Eight hours a day? I remember the old days and how consistent you were but had no idea you put in so much time into this place even back then...wow

Pure madness I know but the thought process was that if I was a year behind everyone else the only way to catch them up was to spend more time on here than them.

I believe that when gazillions of users with flood this blockchain, we will have investors that will turn into curators among these as well.

Maybe but how many Hive would an investor need to be able to curate properly with?. I wouldn't bank on this as imagine just $5 Hive how much someone would need to invest to be a decent sized curator as 20 000 Hive ($100 000) will only give them about a $5 upvote.

Just go look at my blog right now, or at @lucylin if you want to see the most toxic aspect of Hive. This is a dangerous and centralized blockchain not true to the Bitcoin white paper.

Hive is currently making a mockery of Satoshi's efforts.

The curve is set. Splinterlands is the “powder keg”. Add in some defi for ALL tribes and you got some major HIVE FOMO.

It's all about timing, my friend! When I got check my account growth in "analytics", I just wished I would have staked earlier, and understood the power of curation and reward. I know some people don't like the idea of calling hive a game, because it is indeed a full time job, but it has a social & games aspect too in it, It could really fulfil a lot of people, increase their self esteem, creativity, etc... (Now that I am saying it out loud, it sounds like that social credit score game in China hahaha, maybe we are incidentally paving the way)

Lol. I see it as a game and one that has financials backing it making it slightly more serious the bigger you become. The idea of having no value in the beginning actually helped as it allowed me not to ever consider rewards as they would come over time. I am happy you are back.

I am happy I am back too! I missed it, but now I have to find some balance, because it becomes highly addictive hahaha, I forgot!

By the way I did the video [for the last UFC & Bellator Event], which I have cut with actual footage of fights to make my point. I can't imagine the amount of copyright strikes I would have had on Youtube for this one 😃

Lol. Have you posted it as haven't seen it? Will keep looking. I think everyone is in the same boat and it still is original in many aspects.

We are still a long time away from entering or achieving projects here, in a few years it will be impossible.
