Exchanges Transfers Report | Transfers to and from exchanges by date and accounts

HIVE on exchanges has been a hot topic these days because of the supply has literally been drain out. Just recently there was around 130M HIVE on exchanges and these days it is around 100M. That is a 30M HIVE (8.3% of the supply) less on exchanges in just above one month.

Here we will be looking at the transfers to and from exchanges in 2021, with a closer look at August.

Here we will be looking at the following:

  • Daily and monthly transfers to exchanges
  • Monthly transfers to exchanges
  • Top accounts that deposited to exchanges
  • Daily and monthly withdrawals from exchanges
  • Top accounts that withdraw from exchanges
  • Net deposits VS withdrawals

Exchanges taken in the analysis: Binance, Huobi, Bittrex, Upbit, Probit, Ionomy, MXC, Bithumb, Gate.io and Indodax. There are few more exchanges but the volume there is quite low.

Daily Transfers/Deposits To Exchanges

Here is the chart for the daily transfers/deposits to exchanges.

Note: Transfers between exchanges accounts are excluded from the data above.

It is hard to see the trend here because of the spikes, but overall, it looks like the trend is up.

If we look at the monthly chart we have this.

image003.png

From here we can see the trend more easily. HIVE transfers to exchanges have been going up. This looks counter intuitive because more HIVE has been withdrawn from exchange, but it is just because the overall volume increase.

In August 2021, there was 12M HIVE transferred to exchanges.

Top Accounts That Deposited To Exchanges

Who has transferred the most funds to exchanges? Here is the chart for the last 30 days.

image005.png

Note: exchange to exchange transfers are excluded. Those are usually the largest transfers.

The @kdex account is on the top here with 1.7M HIVE transferred to exchanges, followed by @self-power.com and @toni.point. The largest volume in the last month is mostly because of the HBD arbitrages.

Daily Withdrawals From Exchanges

What about withdrawals from exchanges? How much is been withdrawn and by who?
Here is the chart for the daily withdrawals to exchanges.

image007.png

As for the above, here as well the transfers between exchanges accounts are excluded.

Unlike the deposit chart, where there is a small increase in the last two months, here we can see a big spike in the last period.

The monthly chart looks like this.

image009.png

August is dominating the chart with 37M HIVE withdrawn from exchanges. Quite a big number 😊.

Top Accounts That Withdrawn From Exchanges

Who has withdrawn the most funds from exchanges? Here is the chart for the last 30 days.

image011.png

The @kdex account is on the top here as well with 11M HIVE withdrawn from exchanges. This account has been moving a lot of HIVE. It is most likely an arbitrage bot for the Upbit exchange where HBD is usually at higher prices. While it has withdrawn 11M HIVE at the same time it has deposited almost 5M HBD in the period above.

Net Deposits VS Withdrawals

The net deposit vs withdrawals chart looks like this.

image013.png

As for the other chart here as well transfers between exchanges account are excluded.

Positive bar means more funds are withdrawn from exchanges on that day, negative bar is more funds deposited to exchanges.

A total of 24.5M HIVE net withdrawn from exchanges in August 2021. This trend has continued in the first days of September as well.

When the Hive blockchain was created In April 2020 there was around 106M HIVE on exchanges. This number went up to more than 130M at one point. Mostly because of a lot of HBD conversions in 2020, but transfers from users as well.

Now we are seeing the number again back at 100M that is around 28% of the supply. Reaching somewhere around 20% of the supply on exchanges would be great but remains to be seen how the trend keeps up. Even with 100M HIVE on exchanges this is still a nice result and some middle ground. The Korean Upbit has become a number one market maker for HIVE with the highest liquidity. Binance comes next, followed by Bittrex and Huobi. These four exchanges are the places where most of the HIVE trading happens.

At the end a note that, while HIVE supply on the exchanges is going down, the HBD is going up. It has increased a multiple time in the last month from under 5M HBD to around 20M HBD at the moment, and most of it is on Upbit.

All the best
