INVESTING: My Top 4 Second-Layer Tokens Picks.

(Edited)

At the moment, most of the value on Hive is coming from second layer tokens which is incredible considering where most of these tokens were just a year ago.

At the time, adding a bunch of tags - sometimes irrelevant - was a way of earning some extra tokens. That was until communities were launched and a bit of rethinking was done. Communities helped build a dedicated following backing some of the main second layer tokens.

Since then tokens such as LEO have taken advantage of the flexibility offered by being on the second layer to develop and iterate at an impressive rate which is why this token is the first on my list.

1: LEO - LeoFinance

By now, if you haven't heard about Leofinance what are you even doing?

Leofinance is what everybody hopes Hive should be. Active development, incentivization of organic curators, better gamification and marketing, and diversification into emerging markets in blockchain i.e DeFi.

I should also mention that there is hardly any Hive politics leaching through dictating to people how to use their stake.

A lot is going right for the LEO community despite some bumps in the way.

A significant portion of LeoFinance authors is earning more there than they are on Hive.

They have exceeded my expectations by far, and as we wait for Hive to finally find its footing this is the perfect place to spend your time and you might just come out of it with a few thousand in your crypto portfolio.

2: DEC - Splinterlands

DEC or Dark Energy Crystals is the internal currency for Splinterlands, the biggest blockchain game.

As a Splinterlands player, you earn DEC with every win you get in battles which means it is generally up to you how much you can make a day.

Some players like @Costanza generate as much as $50 a month or more which you can see from his detailed updates. That may sound little but it all adds up.

$600 a year from playing a game is not little especially for me. That money represents at least 6 months' rent.

DEC is an incredible option. Get paid to have fun.

3: SPT - Splinterlands

SPT is the token for the Splinterlands' community known as Splintertalk.

The Splinterlands game has already built a massive dedicated community which guarantees an equally wonderful community on Splintertalk who drive the demand for the SPT token.

The success of the token is connected to that of the game. The game has been around for years now, it has been tested over and over again, there have been changes and updates which have been largely unpopular but somehow the game has continued to grow.

I can confidently say that Splinterlands will be around for a while and, therefore, the SPT token.

4: Sports - Sports Talk Social

The SPORTS token is one that often goes under the radar.

I theorize it is probably because the Hive community is largely made up of Americans and as tough as it is to hear, most American sports are not that popular outside America.

I don't hear anything about American football or baseball.

When I think of sports, I think about Football... real football. ** Sorry! **

The SPORTS community is largely cultist despite the little development going on. It is a fan's community which means most authors are passionate about what they write and it is one of the best places for genuine interaction.

So, even though LEO is my well mannered, almost perfect, and lovely wife, I love rolling in the mud with my mistress, SPORTS, just a bit more.

Where else will I blow off steam about my consistently inconsistent Manchester United?

It is kind of funny that we consider football the NFL style football here in America. What football everywhere else in the world is soccer to us. I've been stacking Sports tokens also, I feel someday with proper development it could really take off. I sold most of my DEC tokens, I felt that those token holders should have had first dibs at buying land. I feel they value the investors more than they do the people that actually play the game.

I totally agree on the Sports token. At the moment the capital is not there to build like LEO but the upward potential is there.

For Splinterlands, it has always been like that. The big early investors eat first before everyone gets the scraps left over. But you have to swallow that bitter pill and create your own niche in that economy.

Hoard a bunch of cheap DEC and wait for it to pump then dump it for a tidy profit. That is what I usually do and then put the capital into other projects.
