Buying Land, meeting with lawyers - Development Bank Membership/Governance Token

I have lived with my wife in a rural community in Colombia for almost 9 years now, and have been observing and understanding, learning and also making strategies.

Around us, I feel, there is a lot of opportunity to implement better designed systems that support abundance and prosperity.

Several people that I know online have told me privately in discord that they would be interested in 'investing' in the area, whether buying land, which is popular, or participating in other cash flow businesses, by buying some machinery to process some agricultural products.

I have started to reach out to lawyers, to find out how my Colombian company can legally release some tokens to let you all participate.

I talked yesterday about deciding what the goals were, and I did mention the goal of opening a hostel. We are also working on agroforestry systems, which will be profitable systems that do not require any poisons!

Together with the whole team we will be buying up as much land as we can get our hands on, to implement next generation production systems.

One example of this, one of our allies is working with cattle. They are shifting to a mob-grazing method called 'PUAD' (pastoreo de ulta alta densidad), which is great for the soil and will multiply the amount of meat able to be grown per unit of land. We are helping them implement more tree forage and fodder species to further increase the productivity of this organic system.

These new models are coming into play across the agricultural landscape. Here in Colombia, the possibility exists to grow nearly any agricultural product at some elevation, and by transforming our attitudes it is very possible to live and grow abundance all around us.

Recently, I talked about a HIVE4Timber Scheme. Upon further investigation, it seems to me that any number of such development schemes would fit better under a 'development bank' type token, where members can use their stake to determine which moves the investment bank takes next.

I have always felt very strongly about what JAHM wanted to do, but stepped back from, and that was that if you hold enough tokens, your stake produces 'free nights' or very discounted offerings at partner programs in the area. This was going to use tourism to take HIVE blogging to the next level. Think there is plenty of reason to do it here, this is one of the few places around the world that hasn't seen much tourism yet, and we still have a chance to improve the methods and the models.

Buying Land

Here is the current idea. I have purchased 12 acres of land with very good road access. We can put the land in a company, and the company can do a capital raise with tokens to build the first part of the hostel. With the hostel, the land is worth more and we open up some cash flow opportunities, as well as becoming a gateway site into the region, from where travelers can rest and move on to other interesting explorations.

Members would be encouraged to visit to enjoy discounted lodging and the opportunity to participate in the development (governance) and future cash flow of the business and land. Their discounts would arrive as 'drips' and could be sold on the market.

Even though 'governance tokens' are utility tokens, this would most likely be considered a security because of the raising capital, and so I have decided it is a must to find some lawyers who know something about the Colombian crowdfunding laws.

Development Bank Model

Even though everyone likes to hate on banks, finance is a very powerful thing. The power of making a development bank is to reinvest into the future, as well as create a better future by investing into productive capacity and holistic developments. The tokens, while they could pay dividends, would likely reinvest most of the funds that come under their perview, in this way continue to grow the capital base.

Our regional capacity to produce agricultural goods can be multiplied, by improving the multi-layer understand of agroforestry permaculture-style design, but what we really need to do is process these materials into value added ingredients or final products. We need to extract, distill, ferment, develop, shell, wash, roast and package all manner of forest products from hundreds of different tropical plants.

And if at some point we can register as a bank and make credit, even better.

What I am talking about is taking 'defi' to the next level and building a better and more abundant production in the real world, in our small rural community. And we would love for you to come and visit!

For now, must meet with lawyers.

Freedom and Friendship!

Sounds like a good project and I like that you are planning to move Defi into the real world. If the HE token does get released, I'll buy some even if I never go to Colombia to support your efforts. I'll make sure to HODL them. It won't be a big position but every little bit adds up.

That sounds really awesome - I'll have to work on getting a passport

( I need a ton of money too - but that's another story LOL )

I like the idea of tokenizing the agri business and raising funds through that. We have at least two successfull projects on Hive with similar model but on finance side. You are aware of them.
In addition to legality, it would also be important to define the governance of the project and tokenomics. Who are the large holders or will there be caps? The fund security and project sustainability are the other things that I can think of.
But, great to see the real world application of tokenization :)

The scope of governance would be important. I would like the members to be able to vote on proposals, I have already talked to #archon dev @taskmanager about using a modified version of the ARCHON petition and proposal system.

I would seek to remain the major holder for the initial phases of the project, but would gradually sell off more as the project became more widespread.

This is really interesting. I'm just learning the dynamics of "tokenization" so I don't have much input on what you're talking about but, as already stated, the ability to bring crypto finance into real world applications is arguably the next evolutionary step in the process. It truly would be amazing to see this kind of thing start to blossom on the Hive network. My one big question would be about "key" personnel insurance. Not wishing anything bad on anyone but if one of these trees falls on you in Colombia, what happens to the "token" with everyone else scattered around the globe? Just curious where that's been factored in.

Sounds like a great project! I would definitely be a part of that if possible.

I don't know the first thing about law but if there is something a regular Hive member and project manager could do to help, just let me know!
