Hive is Personal

I've been struggling to read more than a handful of articles everyday, and even blogging consistently can be a struggle. Sometimes when I consider having a rest day I remember people like cryptoandcoffee and toofasteddie who have been consistent participants in the chain for years and their words of encouragement urging me to put in the effort even when I am unmotivated to do so.

But for these words, and their leading by example that showed me what was possible, I probably would not be as committed or consistent, at least at the initial stage of my resolution. One thing I have noticed is that those who have especially grown on the platform over time, there is a certain obsession with seeing it work.

The term stakeholder certainly has an extra feel on Hive. Those who have put in money and/or time over a relatively long span not only don't want the platform to fail, but are amongst the most active community members leading the next pathway to growth and ensuring the chain's sustainability.

I mean, normally it should surprise us that it is those with the most stake who still pursue personal and collective growth. But when you look at it in hindsight, it makes a lot of sense. No one wants to be a whale in dry land, and it is important for every powerful stakeholder to keep flooding the ocean.

Hive is personal for many of us, and should rightly be so. Not many social content platforms has an incentive structure like Hive and certainly not one as robust, nor as rewarding. One could waste hours on end on a place like twitter with political rants and whatnot, but not really feel a part of the structure. It feels like for most social platforms we are but pawns in the game, while on Hive we become partners for the first time.

Of course, a million dollar platform that considers its userbase as partners is more valuable to users than a billion dollar platform that treats its users like pawns. This certainly holds true for most individuals on Hive to the extent that many of us regard other social platforms (especially mainstream ones) less and less these days.

Since mainstream social platforms use us and our data to grow and make money, we cannot necessarily follow that trend on a platform based on the principle of partnership. This is why growth on the chain is a collective as we are not the product, but facilitators of the product. The products that will bring profits to our table need our help to grow if we want to leap from million to billion dollar value.

Hive has already touched lots of lives round the World even at this early stage, Imagine what the future will be like in a few years if we can really achieve all the things we envision for this platform. Hive is really worth taking personally.

Lol. You sussed me out and yes it is personal and why many are committed to trying to spur others on. I am glad you are getting into the groove even if some days are hard to find something to write on. There are posts within posts if you just read and where I turn to when I am brain dead. Inspiration is all around us and we are here for each other.

Posts within posts...very true. I got the topic (and the inspiration) from one of your posts a few hours ago

I think there is a balance though. If you have nothing to write about, go out and live life and then you will have something to write about. It's why I came off the platform in the first place because I was spending so much time writing , that I was doing less things to write about plus my son was born. So there's a balance to be had as well. Just tip away. The power will build in no time.

That's another point to consider, but if we do decide to wait till we're inspired, one day may become a month or even a year of waiting. I personally read other people's articles when I have nothing to write about and in the process, something hidden just strikes me as a good topic.

You're very right though, finding balance is very important and it must not affect the quality of our lives. Personally for me, I try to spend an hour max everyday (with great inaccuracy) on this platform and since I barely do much of any other social media, it isn't so bad
