Losing Weight While Saving Money

You may wonder why the heck this cool guy is writing a post about weight loss on a finance-related Dapp. The answer is simple as Weight-loss or to be precise my weight loss aside my health is tied with money as well.

In Greece we are on our second quarantine which i bet will end during summer. During the first quarantine, i managed to exercise a lot and have a nice body. When the second quarantine started i didn't pay a lot of attention to my weight and as a result, i became fat :P

In fact, i am not 10kg more of what i was while i lost a significant portion of my muscle and i also gained fat as you can imagine. The main reason for that transformation was fast-food and oh boy i ate a lot of it.

For a couple of hours now i tried to see what my expenses per month on junk food were and thus i can determine how much money i will save as well. The only good thing is that i tasted a lot of junk food so i also have a list of the top restaurants and street-food corners.

Let's talk numbers. In a month i spent around 40 euro on crepes alone and close to 100 on junk food. That is something that is going on for 4 months so in total i have spent close to 400 euros on junk food.

When i realized how much money i wasted per month, i thought about what i could buy with those 400 euros. First of all 400 euros are basically a month's salary for a part-time job.

I could literally buy 400+ Leo and depending on the period 400 to 4000 Hive. I could also buy equipment for my work-out which i hope that i am gonna start tomorrow.

Due to the lockdown, the gyms are closed. I am lucky that i have some equipment at home, like a dumbbell and a barbell which would cost over 150 euro because i have a couple of weights as well.

Final Words

As you can see if we write down some of our expenses we will realize that we may waste our money on unnecessary things. For example, some of my friends that drink or smoke have realized that they pay so much money and managed to balance it somehow.

I suggest that you do the same and i bet that some of you when you see the actual number on some of your expenses you will start to thinking differently. Especially, you that are part of this community may end up cutting those expenses down or changing some of your ways for the sake of your crypto assets.

What i mean is that you may come to realize that you waste some money, money that you could have invested in cryptos. That was something along with the extra weights that i have that made me rethink and led me to take some action starting tomorrow!

Heck if you want to step it up you could not only save money but earn as well. How? Simply by showing your progress here with your posts or by sharing healthy recipes! How cool is that?

Mommy blogs will teach you lots about how your junk food affects your food budget.

It is true, even if you are grocery shopping and cooking at home, convenience foods add lots of calories to your meals.

Potato chips vs potatoes, flour and butter over cookies. Butter over vegetables. Cut up chicken breasts vs a full chicken, pre-formed hamburger patties instead of just ground beef.

I am trying to ignore the news about a new strain of corona. I don't think I can be inside for another year and california has never really let up on the quarentine, social distance.

yeah a when i was more into the healthier eating exercising i had read a lot and learned so many things about a proper diet, proteins and such. The thing with junk food as you mentioned too is convinience. Healthy foods or a very healthy diet if you exercise needs a lottt of time

Whuuut! 100euros is hella much but maybe its because I'm converting it to naira in my head. The conversion gives me over 50,000naira, which is more than minimum wage that is given per month. Lol. For me, the most thing that consumes my money is internet data...

This is one thing terrible between Europe and North american against the rest of the world.

In europe here, (I don't really now about greece) 100€ is starting to be a lot but really not huge. In France the minimum salary for one month with 35 hours per week is ~1200€ and my mobile data is unlimited for less than 20€.

As an european it's hard for me to understand how much difficult it is to have internet in other countries while for us it's almost as easy than breathing air. (I wanted to say : "as having water, electricity or food" but that isn't easy for everyone neither)

I hope someday internet will start to be cheaper in the world. That should help a lot of people. Especially if you are paying more for your data when you're on hive/leo than what you earn

Yes it's around 1200€ for 120hours of work per month.
When I see that a lot of people are having issues to live with only that I think that the cost of living is pretty high, I really don't know because I'm not independant at all yet, My parents are still helpgin me a lot.

Even if I worked some times and I was able to live normally without problems with 700€ (note that I'm not going out a lot, don't like to drink alcohol in a bar and eat into restaurants. I do it myself because I's way cheaper).

It also depends of the regions. Living in paris with 1200€ is Impossible. I'm living in a 30m² which costs me 425€per month in Rennes, in paris it would be around 1000€ per month. So there most of time the salary are higher.

Hive really can be almost anything you make it.

I use the blockchain to read healthy recipes, martial arts stories and learn about wellness and whole foods for my activity and health. Then, when you consider a weekly post on @actifit and the rewards you get in crypto, that ties #LeoFinance in as well.

Sharing positive and constructive sentiments and perspective is good for your health, the universe and your wallet!

I trained kung fu for a short while discovered judo through training brazilian jiu jitsu for 8 years or so.

Such a great way to stay in shape and constantly be learning. Both of which I would highly recommend!

ahhh i see! what type of kung fu? I did shaolin kung fu for 4 years and i was lucky one because the sensei (2 of them) were both monks from the shaolin temple in china and every year during summer they would go with the most trained students to the temple for training for around 2-3 weeks!

Fantastic!

The disciplines I trained were Choi Li Fut and Do Pi if memory serves me correctly. I dabbled with wing-chun and wu-shu but have specialized in grappling the last few years.

All fantastic ways to stay active and build yourself.

That's exactly how I'm thinking since I'm a child. Maybe due to the Swiss DNA in my veins ?

When I was student I lived with less than 300€ per month (no charges my parents were paying) and I was able to save nearly 200€ while I was paying for food and everything else I needed. But no fast fast food and most of time I avoided to pay for something I can do well myself.

I don't care the restaurants are closed during the lockdowns because I'm never going to. I don't want to pay something 15€ if I can do it myself for 3 and sometimes better (or at least bigger).

And that is how I've been able to invest my money into my computer which is a big part of my life and my working tool, which today is worth more than 2000€.

Sports alone isn't enough ! Try to eat well too ! That helps a lot to loose weight !

My problem when I gained weight was because I was cooking for myself and doing way to much each day and took around 15Kg in 2 years.

I started just to eat normally trying to put good proportions of fats and proteins, around 20-40 minutes of sport everyday and I lost 10kg in 3 months (+gained some muscle so that is really pleasant. Obviously I stopped to do so much sports and I lost the muscle, I'm now 10 kg lower again)

You got support from here ! Sport isn't easy buy once you've really started that would be better !
