Good vs Bad Expenses [Presentation]

avatar

Money is overwhelming and it's not easy for everyone to handle it properly. Among all the factors for a good living, it has a very important place.

While money gives us the opportunity to lead a happy and comfortable life, most of us don’t make judicious and proper use of what we earn. We all have the freedom to spend our bank balance the way we want. But there are some expenditures which a lot of us are doing and must be avoided because they are not doing us or anyone anything good. They are called Bad Expenses! While there are other expenditures, we all are missing some which can benefit us or the community in one or the other way. These are called Good Expenses.

Through this presentation, let's try to understand what are the differences between the two. As always, I have some simple examples which can help you get a clear picture of how you should spend your money to make it worthwhile.

I don’t mean to say that the above expenses must be cut down to ZERO. After all, it's your money and your choice on how you spend it but if we all cut down a part of it; may be paying one less visit to a restaurant or replacing 1 of our 3 luxurious cars with a normal car, we can do a lot for us and the humanity. Let's find out how!!! Btw, never do drugs, no matter what! 😂

This is impressive @finguru! Knowing the difference between good and bad debt is a matter of knowledge and information. I have seen people spend money buying cars just because it will put them in the high leagues. Really, owning a car is a liability. Having one or two car should do.

How the money is acquired in the first place matters. If not gotten through legit and hard work, the owner would most likely spend it on bad expenses.

Excellent presentation. I see a lot of work went into this. Thanks for sharing this knowledge. 🙂

Thank you so much Kemmy. I feel that money makes money. You can use it to grow financially and as a person too.

According to me, your spending habits speak volumes about your character.

.. legit and hard work, the owner would most likely spend it on bad expenses.

That's why most gamblers who luckily get overnight financial success, fail or lose all of it quickly.

Excellent presentation. I see a lot of work went into this. Thanks for sharing this knowledge. 🙂

Thank you once again, it feels great when my hard work is recognized by good people like you. Gives me more pleasure and motivation to do more of such things. 💪✌

A good post but I think some people might think education might not be a good expense. In particular, taskmaster have been mentioning how the colleges/universities are not a good expense if you end up taking a bunch of debt.

I totally agree with that, putting yourself under debt for getting an education that is not enough to cover it, is a bad expense/investment.

I think spending money on basic education is necessary, especially when you do not have the resources to educate yourself without going to school.

For example: In third world countries, many people do not have the access to the internet. The only way they can study is by buying books or going to school.

A good expense would be to get an education so that you would be able to cover the debt and later on earn through it. So, ROI has to be +ve, and only then it's a good expense. That depends on person to person as well.

Yes, we definitely have a problem here about the expenses
We must rationalize expenditures, and look wisely and patiently about what is coming and what we should do

That's true Natalia, Planning things is always a better idea and we must carefully do it with our money.

Very nice presentation and good advice for all of us. I live a very frugal lifestyle by American standards. I have credit cards and only put small amounts on them. When the bill comes I pay them in full.

There are so many ways to learn on the Internet for free (HIVE being one of the places) my education costs are zero.

Charity is a no brainer for me. It is a part of my budget. I do my best to ensure my left hand does not know what my right hand is doing.

That's so cool. Perfect way to go about it. Money is an important resource. We can either choose to use it wisely for everyone's benefit or throw it away.

And I agree, Hive is a perfect place to learn and grow. Infact you get paid in return. 😜

Good guy Dan. :')
