Asking users to change their vote on an inactive witness
Today I read two posts about the same topic; one of @alexvan (https://leofinance.io/@alexvan/asking-users-to-switch-the-vote-from-closed-witnesses-to-leofinance) and one of @hitmeasap (https://leofinance.io/@hitmeasap/top-witnesses-take-a-look-at-your-own-votes)
Both users address the problem of inactive witnesses and the votes they still have.
@alexvan asks users to change their votes and @hitmeasap is contacting some of the other witnesses.
I think it's a good initiative of them since there is no system to remove inactive votes and users encouraged to vote or to take a look at their votes. I do think it's just a drop in the ocean.
Curious about what numbers we are talking about I checked out the inactive Witness @alexvan mentioned; netuoso
This witness has been inactive for over a month didn't provide a price feed for 4 months.
So I checked out which users voted for this witness and put them in A Google Sheet:
I only did the first half of the alphabet (A-M) and counted a total number of 4106 users still voting for this witness.
What if I create a post and mention all these users that they vote on an inactive witness. I even could ask to consider changing it to the @Leofinance witness.
Surely there will be a lot of inactive users, but it will also reach a lot of users that might consider changing their votes.
I have two questions about it:
- Is it appropriate to do this?
- Is it technically possible to mention 6522 users in one post?

What a work you done.
I think it’s possible but you might get bad reactions but it’s not without reason so I say go for it you can also do a blog and out names in a comment one comment for the A one comment for B etc
It's not really that much. I'm quite good with spreadsheets and then it's just copy and paste :D
It was one of your blogs a long time ago that showed me the importance of voting for witnesses by the way.
I still haven't selected 30 yet, but I'm going the right way :D
Just read in the reply of @thekittygirl that mentioning many people could result in a lot of downvotes.
Maybe I should just copy the list without the @ so users could scroll through the list and mention their friends in a reply like you did.

Yes or as and whales don’t like tagging but in this case I don’t think there are those on the list, but the fact that my blog about voting made you think of this is a super compliment I have anotherone scheduled for March .

Thanks for the heads up. I sometimes forget to keep checking back on my witness list but I am all up to date now. I had 2 inactives on my list. Going to try to make it a weekly thing to look at my witness list and see if it needs adjusting. :)

What a coincidence I also read a post about this but from another users earlier and decided to take a look at my votes. Turns out I was voting for 5 inactive witnesses
