Now for my pirate side suggestion post. @silverd510 and @summertooth are on the 12 Days of Christmas posting theme. Short and sweet Wish List posts, and in keeping with that spirit, as promised this is another such post for today.

When you look my Hive profile wallpaper you will see a small handful Pirate Treasure silver. A motley collection of silver replica, fantasy, and a real Reale or so with an added skull and flintlock to finish the context. I have a few 8 Reales, but not THE Reale Doubloon.

By the way, one coin in that picture is a fake.

This 1732 to 1737 Philip V 8 Reales became the world’s ‘reserve’ currency of the Spanish Empire and was made famous as Pirate Treasure by Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island. I have a more modern edition in my library.

This would cover most of my Home Repairs and Renos.

1732 saw the new way of coining silver from crude irregularly shaped chunky 8 Real cobs into consistent, round, and better stacking money as we know today. This coin’s history, rarity, and portrayal as pirate treasure mythos is enshrined in my list of dream coins to one day own.

I wasn't quite the good gal so I won't expect this under the tree, which comes my next budget minded alternative.

Now, from my Realistic shopping List

Originally purchased from QSB, Quality Silver Bullion, these Regency Spanish Pillar replicas are no longer made and are harder to find. Though I have only two specimens, in hindsight I should have gotten at least a roll of 20, enough to fill a small treasure chest full of these rounds. I would love to get another!

Sold by the Golden State mint, another good alternative is Silver Shield’s ‘Pieces of Eight’ I would consider the Silver Stacking Pirate’s generic rounds. Priced reasonably for the best bang for the Buccaneer. I do have one of these but a second will do nice so as I can pass these on to each of my Sons.

The Latin inscription, “PRAEDATUM IN MUNDO” means, “No Prey, No Pay”

Thus are the options I would suggest to my #secretsanta in the Pirate Treasure category. Yo ho ho! And a mug of mulled Apple spice. ☠️
