I bet you have your eyeballs on the pretty shiny silver dagger. It was a gift from YouTuber and Chief Rant Officer of DrWho's Discord Server Crew Tessa C. It came as part of a Nyssacat373 gift package over a year ago and have been looking for a post to theme together. Recently, I contracted the same Nordic Stackitis Variant as @silverd510's, combined with the Viking face symbol on the guard of this fancy letter opener, and a post is born.

More on the dagger later, first the Silver bars.

Monarch Precious metals introduced this bar in 2020 along with it's Viking Warrior Flail and Shield bar. The product is simple and seemed like an experiment but took off in popularity enough to be a fixture for future products. While Covid may have put those 2021 plans on hold, MPM wasn't sitting on their laurels.

When business finally opens up in 2022 Monarch introduces a new set of three Viking series poured bars; the Dual Axe Viking, the Viking Archer, and this Viking Shield Maiden. The designers of Monarch have upped their game adding more features giving more of a context to the theme of this product.

Features like switching to an antique finish, Celtic styled lettering, a matching suede leather pouch and my favorite add is the Longboat obverse. Great added value in a time of high Silver premiums.

The Silver Dagger

*What is a dagger?” A sharp pointed, dual edged knife used in close combat by either thrusting or stabbing.

I admit that I do not know much about Viking weaponry. Though the markings appear Viking like yet do not bear any of the known Viking/Celtis traditional styles. Having expended too much valuable time identifying the markings of this replica I had to assume this as a fantasy piece.

This design is put together in a ceremonial or ritual style that it would fit in a Lord of the Rings movie or seen on the game Skyrim. The hilt style is similar to the Suontaka and the rain guard face figure of this replica.

It wasn’t until I came back to a popular armory website that I had previously window shopped and found this as the Silver Shaman dagger. Bingo!

At 12.5” total length at a weight of 11 oz, this dagger has good balance at the guard where my thumb would be positioned. Classed as a Decoration meaning that it is a not a functional weapon but it would still look great slipped under my waist band should I decide to dress up as Viking queen Lagertha or as Hildegard of the Valkyries this Halloween.🎃

According to 12th century Viking legend, Lagertha was ruler of Norway, Shield maiden, as well as wife of the legendary Viking King Ragnar Lodbrok. The original Author Saxo documented her exploits participating in raids but modern day historians doubt them as authentic and much more fiction.
Well, at least it shows that Viking culture being more progressive in than most of us think, making booty raids more a family affair.

That's one big Silver bar. Viking Warrior is so nice, great for collecting. I think 5 oz are just perfect, as the 10 ounce are too big and more difficult when it comes to selling !

You are correct regarding the 5 oz size bars in general. This size is a good intermediate size, the maximum size bars I have are 10 oz size comprising of mostly low premium generic silver.
These poured Viking Bars have what I deem as a fun premium, the collector in me just like to have fun with my silver.

The Vikings series is very cool I got this warrior chick and another 2 bars from the series , and that silver dagger is very cool I would love to have something like that in my collection

Then you must have the entire 2022 3 bar set. Cool! I'd like to read your take on these bars soon.
The Dagger is sold by an Armory Website called Kult of Athena, the link is embedded in the post. I do not know of any Canadian retailer that may carry this dagger, maybe Blades Canada may have a nice one that suits your style.

Only 2 out of 3, my 3rd bar has a plain back without the ship design like the other 2, I feel a bit silly I did not get the 3rd becouse it had a slightly higher premium than the 2, they wanna tax me on completing the set and I just couldn't have that 😂

Oh it's a real dagger I thought it was like a bullion piece, I would not want to wield a weapon made of silver it's far too precious, rusty iron works just fine 😂

I could have one made of silver, but this dagger is suitable for opening mail. I was gonna order a set of Silver bullion Shurikens but the CBSA won't allow it.

Premiums are still way up and a little more, ASEs are as high as $15!!! 😲
Local Junk silver is $6 above spot. Having Fun silver is getting more expensive.

I keep the silver raven on top of my desk, it doesn't go into storage, sis. I have a photo on my phone.
You know that you are my original sis, and we go a long way (and we'll become rich together)! We are very different, yet share some things in common. One thing, I like wearing pretty Victorian attire... for tea, hahaha! Ships are another. Warrior women. Dragons. Knives/Daggers (you've seen them, for self defense, hehehe)... gold, silver.

This showy dagger is a bit long and awkward to deploy from its sheath from under the pillow unless I sleep in those king sized medieval styled bed chamber beds. I got more modern MT-667 just right for the task.

This form of silver is a fantasy replica much like my cool silver dagger. Vikings never had much in terms of their own coinage except what they got from raiding business of other kingdoms that they have likely incorporated for trade with each other and with other communities.

I've been Stacking since 2015. However my last Sensei retired when teaching me the Katana, he was not fully accredited so my knowledge of Katori Shinto Ryu is far from complete and I would have to go to Japan for that. Meanwhile, it's Fruit Ninja practice.
