COULD HIVE BE YOUR ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ATTAIN FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE?

avatar

For a few days now, I have been in thought about what my plans were moving forward in 2022 and even though I have a bunch of goals to achieve, I have been dormant in my opinion.

Being “dormant” has made me fall into a bit of a shell and even though I am gradually trying to get out of it, I feel a bit stuck still.

My major goal for this year has been to gain at least a level of financial independence and even though I wouldn’t say I am the most dependent person, I wouldn’t really say I am where I plan on being either especially since at the moment I practically cannot afford to stand on my own.

Due to that factor, I have been trying to figure out a way forward to be at least a bit financially independent but most of my plans are falling through which is a bit saddened.

For now, hive is my only source of income and even though I am grateful for this platform, I don’t think that “right now” I can live solely on it with my current earnings or if it could even help attain any level of independence on its own, to be honest.

Yes, right now I am earning above minimum wage in my country on hive but with a minimum wage set at 53 dollars monthly and with the current inflation, it actually isn’t much if you think about it.

I would always tell newbies to set their expectations low when they come to hive and focus on other aspects except for finance because while there are so many opportunities, if you come expecting certain things, you might fall short and making hive your only source of income might not be a good idea.

SO WHAT IS MY PLAN MOVING FORWARD?

My plan has always been to have multiple streams of income and to do this I would practically have to get a job which isn’t the easiest thing right now but I am still trying to push on that while still focusing on hive.

Other plans involve relocating to a different state and I have been trying to avoid this because while there could be more opportunities somewhere else, I would prefer to get a job before moving due to cost, etc.

IN THE END,

It is still just January and I still have a bit of time to go in my goal of attaining financial independence so I am trying not to be overly worried or concerned because it is still pretty attainable.

THANK YOU FOR OPENING THIS BOX OF PASSION

Omoh. I have been having the same thought. My own problem is, I may have the options but I don't have the capital. Getting a good paying job rn is like looking for needle in a haystack. But we'd get by. God no go shame us.

Exactly, I have seen jobs but it isn't worth it at all so I don't take them.

It is all very tiring if I start thinking about it.

But I'm sure there are projects that can foster this stuff. Most are long term investments though. I have been looking into some of these. I found one. Pays monthly. It's what i have been doing since last year. Getting 10% interest but I don't withdraw it 😂. I do rollover

I wish you success dear.. The life is not so easy.

The cost of success requires a lot of determination. Sometimes we have to do what we don't like to get what we want.

Financial freedom can only be attained from re investing and doing a whole lot of things. learning a lot of skills will push you closer to financial freedom

Yeah, attaining goals aren't easy but they are doable if you can keep pushing.

Been learning skills but selling the skill is a bit tricky also.

Tech is practically what I am trying to get into but I had a bit of a hiccup with certain things that happened.

I had this on my mind too coming into the new year.

Understanding how the hive blockchain works.

Forex, crypto and other investments as well.

This is what people don't get when I complain, you will always need to have that boring job if you want to live very comfortably, most people don't get.

I would start by saying that Rome wasn't built in a day. When it comes to hive it take a significant amount of time to become financially comfortable. When I started hive, I had a family to cater for and I wasn't even earning quarter of what I am earning now. It was difficult but I knew this was what I wanted to do and I suck to it long enough for it to become something. I don't know what your expectations are but it's best to understand and appreciate where you are currently and make quantum leaps to the future you desire. If you have people who are willing to support you please accept their offer until you can stand firm on your own--even I rely on my partner sometimes. I am still a long way from where I envision but I am taking things a step at a time. Cheers!

I know it takes time and I am ready to put that time into hive but while I am doing that, I still need some other streams of income to survive on and in Nigeria, it's a bit difficult.

At this point, I wouldn't say I have people aiding me and that has made life a bit complicated because it is me figuring out everything on my own but regardless I know with time it will all work out.

Understandable. Maybe in your spare time you can explore other avenues to generate extra income outside hive. The few times I have tried it was soul crush so I stuck with hive. I really value my peace over every other thing.

Been exploring, just not finding anything substantial.

Tried to do an internship to get a tech skill and the company didn't teach anything but wanted to use me for things that weren't tech related.

It's all really tiring.

The simple answer to your question from the title is: YES, it's possible... Try to create quality posts on HIVE regularly (at least 1 per day), dive deep into the whole ecosystem, research about tribe tokens, play some of the free games here on HIVE where you can earn additional income, check out diesel pools and earn rewards... Be persistent and never give up!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

In my own opinion, Hive can generate you a decent amount of money but financial independence, you'll need to fight tooth and nail for it, even though it's possible, it's a long shot. Like you rightly said, creating a multiple streams of income is your/anyone's best bet.

Currently fighting tooth and nail and the nail is poking me 😆 but yeah, hive can be a platform to aid but solely it might be hard to get someone to financial freedom.

You are doing everything right @khaleesii. I do hope you find a job that at least fulfills you even if it doesn't pay the best rate... but you are also right not to short-sell yourself. There is a balance to be had. I think a lot of people share your frustrations and Covid has not helped the issue. The other advice here to play the on-chain games like Rising Star and Splinterlands would be good...and gear up for Psyber X too. All passive sources of income as you can rent out Splinterladn cards, earn Starbits in Rising Star...and this one is largely a passive forms of income. Once you get to 1m starbits you can get a millionaire card which allows you to do the daily millionaire mission which earns you 10,000 starbits a day....which is either a pack of cards a day or you can sell on hive engine. All adds up. All the best for 2022 my lovely. I shall be following you as usual 😍 !PIZZA !ALIVE

Thank you so much, currently playing rising star and renting out my cards on splinter land, I know it is a gradual process.

Covid did a lot of damage plus living in a country that is crazily corrupt.

It´s as if you read my mind concerning this. I am also pressing some buttons of work so that when I graduate, before my NYSC probably this year, I need to find something doing for the main time even though I have two sources of income online right now, I still want to work offline too. I pray may God grant us our desires concerning this. @dreemport brought me here

Still. make plans, that was one area I slacked a bit in my opinion, I felt like after NYSC something would come up.

What is the cost for you to live on for a year? As a Nigerian I expect you don't have great access to equity markets, but in principle if you can get 20 times the amount it costs you to live for a year in HBD savings, it would be enough to live on the interest for the rest of your life.

I think it depends on how you are living in Nigeria, for now, I barely spend on rent because I am staying with my parent but it can be way more expensive depending on car and other amenities.

Also, I have been trying to utilize the HBD savings but it does depend on how much I am earning so I don't know, not earning enough to survive on.
