Extra Income with Blockchain Gaming (Part #1) - Axie Infinity
I've been playing video games since I was a kid and I never imagined that I could actually make a decent amount of money out of it! Well, gotta thank blockchain tech for making this possible and accessible to anyone around the globe.
In these series I am gonna introduce you to blockchain games I play daily and I'll kick things off with one of my favourites. That's no other than Axie Infinity.

I am playing Axie Infinity for almost 3 months now and I have no plans of quiting soon.
Axie Infinity is a digital pet universe where players battle, raise, and trade fantasy creatures called Axies.
Axie Infinity is a Pokemon-inspired game so there are many types of Axies like Aqua, Beast, Bird etc, each type with it's own weaknesses, advantages and unique moves!
You will probably wonder how the hell you can earn crypto from this game,right?
You earn Small Love Potions (Axie's in-game currency) when you win games in "Adventure" and "Arena" mode as well as when you complete your daily quest.
The Arena
Arena is the PVP fights in Axie and like most competitive games out there, there is an Arena Ladderboard and Axie Trainers with the most points earn a ton of SLP every season. Every Arena win earns you 8 SLP and SLP's value is around $0.02.

The Adventure
Adventure is the solo-mode of Axie Infinity. The goal of adventure mode is to clear all levels while fighting against mobs. Clearing a levels earns you EXP and SLP. You earn more EXP and SLP as you advance in higher levels.
My Earnings
SLP is an ERC-20 token so you can easily trade it for any other currency you like. These are my SLP earnings since 1st January 2021.
1319 SLP equals to $26. Not bad if you consider the minumum effort I put in this game. I play for about an hour every day and just complete my daily quest. $26 a week equals to $100/month and that's almost enough money to pay my rent here in Greece.
Now, here is the catch
You must buy 3 Axies if you want to start playing this game and the cheapest Axie on the market costs around $35. That's a total of at least $105 to get started but it is definitely worth it if you can commit at least 1 hour every day to this game and complete your daily quest.
You'll get your investment money back in 2 months top plus you will own 3 Axies. Win-Win Situation!
You can buy your first 3 Axies from the Axie Marketplace. Just make sure you have some spare ETH for Gas fees.

No doubt, Axie Infinity has caught a lot of attention over the last several months and it is a profit making one as well, though gas is really very high for the time being.

Yeah man and I don;t think the hype will stop anytime soon! Axie is now migrating to it's own blockchain sidechain so everything can be faster, flawless and of course cheaper!

If it requires an active participation, like playing daily, then it is not passive income.
Leasing your axies out or running a scholarship program would be passive income.
Staking, possible in Q2 for $AXS holders, will be passive Axie Infinity income. Until then, there’s nothing psssive about AI and your title is misleading.

Thanks for the comment @fknmayhem. I though of it this way. I am earning while I am doing what I was gonna do anyways (play a game) so I thought it was included in the "passive" income category since it requires little effort and you can earn a lot. Let me fix the title.
Are faucets for example considered passive income? Just curious

Passive income is you set it up and you earn without needing to think about it.
If it requires (regular) activity... note the terms: active and passive. They’re self-explanatory.
Re-staking: it’s in the whitepaper and roadmap.
Axie Infinity is a very good game! It's very fun to play too haha. Every arena win between the rank 1299-1499 if I'm not mistaken gives you 8 SLP per win, but that SLP earned for win increase/decrease depending of your rank. Also, if anyone doesn't have the money to start they can enter a Scolarship program, people that gives you an account with axies and teach you the game for the people who can't! The condition is a percentage of your earnings, obviously. Also, for anyone who wants to start be sure to learn about the metagame, and which axies are good for that, so then you don't buy an useless axie

You are right @albertoar17! I am currently sitting on 1550 Rank and I earn 9 SLP for my every win in the Arena! The rewards increase depending on your Rank! Never made it past 1500 so I do not know how much SLP you earn at even higher ranks!
I too am playing with scolarship and keep 65% of my earnings! Trying to save some money to buy my own Axies soon so I am hustling hard!
Do you know any sites in which I can check more about the metagame, tips etc?
